POSITION SUMMARY:
As part of Analytical Chemistry team, this position will serve as a Bothell Investigation Scientist working to support global Manufacturing, Quality Control, and New Product Development. The scientist will perform analytical testing and root cause analysis by developing analytical methods as needed, utilizing state of the art analytical tools such as HPLC, LC/MS, GC/MS, NMR, and FTIR.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments at Analytical R&D lab
Maintain adequate supplies and organize workstation
Assist in designing systematic investigation experiments
Execute experiments of time-sensitive investigations by following scientific directions
Develop and optimize chromatographic and mass spectrometric analysis procedures
Characterize targeted and nontargeted analysis for products, reagents, consumables, and instrument components
Make sound conclusions from the root cause analysis
Provide clear documentation, results, and presentation of data

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education or Experience (in years):
B.S. Degree in Chemistry with 5+ years of experience or Masters Degree in field with 3+ years of experience or a similar discipline; or, equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level
5+ years of experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory

Knowledge and skills:
Ability to think creatively and analytically solving method development challenges
Excellent attention to detail, organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
Expertise in a broad range of analytical chromatographic separation techniques
Expertise in design of experiments, analytical method development, data analysis, and documentation of results
Experience working in a manufacturing environment under cGMP, ISO and FDA regulations
Understanding of molecular diagnostic product utilizing nucleic acid amplification tests

Physical requirements/abilities:
Be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours. Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.
