Position Description

The position performs the accounting functions for multiple terminals in the Northeast Region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Enter and review contract data in Merlin contract/billing system
* Responsible for maintaining contracts/billing line items to follow procedures set for ASC 606 and ASC 842
* Performs the monthly close procedures for multiple terminals, including all month end reporting requirements
* Ensures that revenue and expenses are recorded in the correct period and properly accrued
* Meet weekly with operational staffs to review weekly Opex spending, as well as coordinating the monthly Opex accrual
* Work with Capital Controller to ensure capital is properly accrued for in the month
* Support regional management team with various revenue and Opex analyses
* Analyzes and explains variances to budget and forecast; and quarterly flux variances
* Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations for multiple terminals
* Insures that all Sarbanes Oxley controls, as well as other internal controls, are being followed
* Assists with internal and external audit requests for multiple terminals
* Cross train duties with other accounting personnel as needed
* Provides various other support functions / reports on an ad-hoc basis

Position Requirements

Education Requirements:

* 4 year degree in accounting, finance or other related business discipline; CPA preferred

Job Requirements:

* 5 - 7 years in accounting-related position
* Working knowledge of Lawson software is preferred; Hyperion Smart View experience helpful; ASC 606 and 842 helpful but not required
* Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including using a variety of formulas including but not limited to links, sum, v-lookup, offset, and familiarity with functions such as pivot tables and subtotals.
* Must have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, self-motivation, the ability to work with limited supervision, and the ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines
* Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers and other departments as a team and interact with multiple Terminal Managers
* Must be comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization
* Must be a self-starter and able to work at times with limited guidance
* Limited travel
* Typically day shift with extended hours, weekends and holidays as required
* Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and have willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment
* Must pass and complete any items required by local, state, or federal agencies and/or Kinder Morgan specific safety training as may be required at all Kinder Morgan locations.
* Will be required to obtain TWIC credentials to work at various locations within the company
* Must pass a Kinder Morgan drug screen and background check, and credit check prior to employment

Working Conditions
* Physical requirements include but are not limited to the regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
* The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
* The employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk at times which may extend for the entire day.
* May be periods of prolonged sitting for desk/computer activities with extended hand and arm movements, eye, neck and/or back discomfort which may range up to several hours or an entire work day.
* The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or walk on uneven surfaces.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
