Responsibilities
Palmdale Regional Medical Center serves the region by providing high quality medical services to residents of the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities. With the recent addition of the Rehabilitation Institute, the hospital features 184 licensed acute care beds as well as inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiac services featuring a STEMI Receiving Center (heart attack) and a 35-bed 24-hour emergency department. The Center for Wound Care provides treatment for people with chronic non-healing wounds. This comprehensive wound-healing service includes hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Palmdale Regional Medical Center is active in the community and regularly participates with the Antelope Valley Board of Trade, Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance, Chambers of Commerce and other civic and governmental groups. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
The Lead Dietary Aide Demonstrates the ability to determine age specific and appropriate foods for each age categories. They are able to demonstrate supervision in safe food handling, sanitation, and health codes. Monitor time temperature and sanitation logs for accuracy and completion. Assist in training new employees in safe food handling and sanitation. Supervises food prodution activities. Assist as needed to make sure production is delivered on time. Demonstrates the ability to be accountable for the efficient and effective operation of the diet office duties. Supervises trayline assembly/expedites trayline as needed. Assist as needed to maintain timely production in all areas of kitchen (cafeteria, patient, special function). Assit with administrative duties and reports as needed. Handles customer complaints and patient complaints as needed for customer service, maintaing service exellence skills and utilizing the appropriate chain of command.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
Must have a working knowledge of kitchen operation.
Knowledge of food handling, food preparation, purchasing, and the use of institution equipment computers.
Ability to instruct, and supervise the work performance of others.
Ability to make decisions and to adapt to changes.
Demonstrates ability to maintain positive relationships and courteous interactions with hospital staff and the public.
Ability to communicate/read/understand the English written and verbal language to perform essential job functions.
Equipment skills to include computer, fax machine, calculator, copy machine, dish machine, meat slicer, cooking equipment, keyboard, lightpen, printer, phone headsets, thermal printers, and operate voice mail system.
Must be proficient in computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel and become proficient in food database software and electronic medical record.
Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food allergies, intolerances and nutritional composition of foods.
Ability to show initiative, problem solve, handle responsibility and communicate effectively with leadership and other team members.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
At least two years experience in a nutritional acute health care facility as a diet clerk preferred.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
Graduate of a college degree program with major studies in food and nutrition, dietetics, culinary arts or hotel and restaurant management and/or is a certified dietary manager.
REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Registered Diet Tech or Bachelors or advanced degree from an accredited institution in Dietetic, Food and Nutrition or have Certified Dietary Manager Certification
Food Handler's Card and/or ServSafe Certificate
