Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of PAS/BO and/or Assistant Director, responsibilities include scheduling and logging census via computer, runs daily

and month end reports, answers phones, assists and verifies health care benefits for all admissions. Determines patient liability based on

benefits and advises patient of their liability. Assists with collections of monies due or payments from patient or guarantor at time of admission

or before patient is discharged.

Qualifications

Medical terminology preferred.

C omputer experience, WordPerfect and Microsoft windows preferred.

Previous OR secreterial experience or unit secretary experience preferred.

Understanding of HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-C al, and MIA reimbursement and payor criteria preferred.

Mathematical ability to calculate and determine patient liability based on benefits verified by third party payor preferred.

Assaultive Behavior Management C ertificate required within 90 days from date of hire.

Experience in an acute care hospital admitting department preferred.

Minimum 1 year experience in insurance verification in a medical setting preferred.

C entralized Scheduling experience preferred.
