Summary: The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of all back desk areas. These areas include phlebotomy, medical assisting, medical procedures, phone triage, Protocols for EMR, managed care referrals, and X-ray services.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Supervises the day-to-day functioning of all clinical areas of the practice, working closely with and taking direction from the providers and practice manager
* Will provide back office employees with up-to-date EMR protocols and will be responsible for assuring proper adherence to the protocols at all times by the staff
* Assures a pleasant, clean and safe environment for employees, providers, and patients
* Assures medical supplies are available to ensure continuity in patient care and to support the practice style and preferences of the providers
* Assist with Hiring, training, and motivating clinical personnel, working closely with the practice manager to assure consistent and fair personnel practices are applied to all employees
* Develop and conduct orientations to new back office staff members
* Conduct periodic evaluations of staff members
* Maintains a current knowledge base for OSHA and CLIA requirements, trains staff and tests staff skill levels, and monitors site compliance following Policies and Procedures

Required Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED
* Certified medical assistant or graduate from an accredited medical assistant program
* CPR certified or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of employment
* At least three years experience in supervising clinical functions in a medical office or other health care setting
* Experience with electronic health records
* Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained
* You will be provisioned with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are required to perform this role with patients and members on site, as this is an essential function of this role
