Job Description

This position is aligned with the OptumRx EA Architecture organization and will be responsible for hands on work related to OptumRx enterprise architecture initiatives. The Lead Architect role will be involved in many aspects of the architecture including defining and documenting standards and best practices, developing frameworks and reusable components, executing POCs and technology assessments, working directly with application teams to train and mentor other engineers.

This position is an individual contributor role and will report up to an EA architect aligned to a specific technical stack(s) and/or capability. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about technology and enjoy digging in to learn something new.

It is important that the Lead not only have great technical skills, but also must be able to communicate effectively and become an evangelist for the architectural practices EA is proposing. Working together as a team and establishing relationships outside of EA is critical for supporting the wider adoption of our strategies. The best architecture is worth nothing if no one adopts or aligns to it.
Individuals in this role will need to have a strong technical background and the ability to code and set standards and best practices. Others will look to them as the expert and for advice and consultation. They should have broad general skills but deep skills within specific areas. We are developing a culture of innovation with emphasis on developing dev-ops engineering practices in Cloud, CI/CD, microservices and digital technologies.

Required qualifications:

* 4+ years experience in the role as architect and/or technical lead
* 2+ years experience with security concepts (including authentication & authorization patterns, OAuth2, OIDC, etc. and Cloud security best practices)
* 3+ years experience with cloud preferably Azure Cloud (including best practices Cloud development, serverless functions)
* 3+ years experience with APIs and Microservices
* 3+ development experience with Java/Spring or other major development language
* 2+ years experience with streaming and/or Event driven architecture
* 3+ years experience with CI/CD automation
* 3+ years experience with database concepts
* Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and localmasking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.
