The Opportunity
The Assistant Buyer position is a role intended to prepare for a Buyer I position. Develop an understanding of and become proficient in the ability to use various metrics such as analyzing sales and dollars/minute, return rates, customer reviews, new names and the products and brands that resonate with our customers to inform business decisions for future product buys and sales opportunities.

Your Impact
The Assistant Buyer Identifies, develops, negotiate products, price and terms, buy and execute new products, concepts, shows, and ideas that will deliver sales results across our multi-platforms.
Develop a sense for merchandising from recognizing product and customer trends to the ability to translate these trends into actual ideas/concepts/products/shows that will resonate with QVC or HSN customers for the category of business.
Manage daily office operations and administrative work. Educate, communicate and negotiate with vendors and cross-functional departments.
Develop cross functional internal relationships as well as external vendor relationships.
Lead the office function in the absence of the Buyer. Perform duties according to company policies and procedures with some latitude for independent judgment and initiative.
Building Buying Fundamentals:
* Learn, understand and assist with multi-platform short and mid-range buying plans that meet or exceed the financial goals.
* Learn, understand and assist with multi-platform plans that will deliver sales, productivity, adjusted gross margin, TSV/TS achievement rates and inventory plans. Identify areas of growth while managing areas of risk.
* Learn the vision for the Buying area.
* Gain knowledge and ability on how to identify and develop new products and brands that will deliver the Buying area strategy.
* Understand and develop the skills to analyze data from a variety of sources to make and support decisions.
* Understand learn how to have an entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas that will deliver results.
* Learn and understand the customer and the connection with her.
* Assist in the presentation and execution of TSV/TS readiness.

* Understand and establish goals that will help achieve buying area performance.
* Understand how and develop the skills to select high performing products to deliver results.
* Build skills and relationships to work with cross functional partners to execute brands, products and show concepts and react to short term business results.
* Demonstrate the skills to build an item business by developing and building brand growth.
* Learn how to curate unique products and assortments and develop storytelling that illustrates a products features by way of its benefits and show how product will impact the customers life. Learn how to translate to cross functional teams.
* Manage day to day office functions.

* Attend and assist with the preparation materials for strategic business meetings with vendors.
* Develop relationships with Category Strategy and Business Development and Product Development Teams to develop and execute product assortment opportunities.
What You Bring
* Bachelors Degree or equivalent business experience.
* 0 3 Years related work experience.
* Excellent oral, written and telephonic communication skills.

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to make oral and written presentations. Ability and confidence to present opinions and thoughts in a clear, unbiased manner.

* Ability to work, as necessary, during evening/weekend hours for specific shows or for guest appearances.
