Primary Purpose:

Conducts tax accounting, tax compliance, and performs analysis and audit in connection with federal, state, and local tax activities for Norfolk Southern Corporation and subsidiaries.

Principal Duties:

* Reviews income statement and balance sheet activity to determine proper tax treatment.
* Supports special studies for the purpose of tax planning.
* Assists in the preparation of state apportionment for multiple states.
* Assists in the development of income tax accruals and associated information in accordance with tax laws and regulations and related financial reporting.
* Prepares support documentation for tax positions and responses to audit inquiries.
* Prepares returns, payments, extensions, claims and related documentation.
