Mohawk is looking for a Sr. Production Manager II, located at our Bennettsville Oak River South facility - 1st shift.

DESCRIPTION:

Yarn Manufacturing

Directs and coordinates human, financial and operating resources of various production groups to ensure division goals and objectives are achieved. Provides direction and leadership in the resolution of technical and production related problems. Leads subordinate staff in a manner that fosters a self directed team approach. Actively involved in business operations planning and decision-making at plant level and facilitates interdepartmental coordination to meet objectives and deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assists plant manager to establish operational objectives such as production goals, direct and indirect labor, other fixed and variable costs; manages production operations, communicates and delegates related goals and assignments to subordinate managers and/or work teams. Works with facility support organizations to ensure product quality and to achieve production goals and deadlines.
* Assists plant management teams and direct reports in staying informed of all production, quality control, safety and personnel activities; proactively identifies potential issues and recommends action for prompt and effective resolution to ensure quantity and quality of products, optimum efficiency and utilization of resources, a skilled and motivated workforce, maximum customer satisfaction and fixed and variable cost control. Using established measures, monitors department(s) performance against standards and advises plant manager of deviations from objectives and effectively recommends and takes corrective action.
* Assists senior plant management to plan, develop and control budgets to ensure the cost effective production of high quality products for delivery to customers. Actively participates on short- and long-term strategic planning meetings and projects addressing issues related to labor, manufacturing processes and material requirements based on forecasts of product demand, technology changes, changes in productivity, supplier capacity, industry trends, performance measures, goals and results, etc. Leads or actively participates on division projects. This includes but is not limited to: developing project plans, directing and coordinating activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters, and managing all aspects of requirements, design, development, implementation and testing of assigned projects.
* Stays abreast of industry trends, technology changes and best practices and Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance production technology, process flows, operating and tactical plans to improve efficiency, product quality and manage cost
* Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors degree in a related discipline (Graduate degree preferred) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential function of the job. 12+ years of progressively responsible job specific experience that includes:
* Experience working in a manufacturing environment overseeing yarn manufacturing functions,
* Minimum of 8 years in a leadership/management role in an environment of comparable size and diversity.
* Six Sigma certification preferred,
* Lean Manufacturing training and experience preferred,
* Proficient using a PC and other department specific databases and/or systems,
* Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the principles, techniques and methodology of project management, quality management, and change management.
* In-depth understanding of OSHA and other Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory guidelines, practices and reporting requirements that maintain a safe, efficient and effective work environment.
* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively interact with Senior Management, internal and external customers, vendors and the general public; ability to communicate with others in an antagonistic situation using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards.
* Ability to present and explain information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
* Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions, including the persistence and willingness to take calculated risks to stimulate, market and sell new ideas.
* Ability to achieve results through team efforts to persuade, lead, counsel and coach a diverse work group.
* Organizational ability to redirect skills to support new technologies while maintaining current commitments; ability to perform in a high pressure environment and/or crisis situation and render good decisions to resolve problems; maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct.
* Consistently proven ability to manage/implement projects and contribute to concept development.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

* Must be able to walk long distances, climb on machinery and stand for long periods of time. Bending, crouching and stooping may be required. Must also be able to work in non-climate controlled facilities. Work environment is a noisy, high traffic manufacturing production floor. May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts, weekends and holidays.
