We are changing the way Micron Technology Inc. thinks about IT Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) and are looking for a Window/Linux Engineer to hire as an Intern who will help with IT Enterprise Compute Platforms, Datacenter Operations at Micron.

During this Internship, your primary focus will be on Windows/Unix/Linux Servers and Compute hardware technologies. This role will have a heavy emphasis on automation and a hybrid cloud environment. It will help in supporting the entire lifecycle of physical hardware in our datacenter such as racking, provisioning, maintaining, troubleshooting and decommissioning, while maintaining operational excellence in multiple world class Data Center environments.

This position will be located in Boise, Idaho, working in a fast-paced, agile and iterative environment, affording the stability of a global, established and competitive technology company.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

You will work regularly with Microns Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote, and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance.

As part of your responsibilities you will be required to:

Installation, configuration and troubleshoot of Windows/Linux servers

Provide innovation within Windows/Linux Servers, Active Directory, LDAP, Ansible and Satellite

Maintain global collaboration with the other Micron IT operations teams, both internal and external to I&O

Operational support escalation

Incident management and problem management

Project execution

Maintain OLA and SLA agreements with other Micron Business Units.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Monitor overall health of the Windows/Linux Server environment with an emphasis on proactive discovery of potential issues

Troubleshoot/finetune performance issues and ensure high availability of the production servers

Drive innovation and automation of compute solutions both internally and for our customers

Use scripting languages and tools to automate operational activities, tasks, system builds, and change management (PowerShell, Ansible, puppet, Shell, Python, Perl, etc.)

Propose and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems

Recommend and work with the Solution and Enterprise Architects on system or architectural changes when needed to improve performance, high availability, scalability, or propose new technologies

Ensures architectural consistency and provides technical direction through roadmap process, knowledge management, disaster recovery plan development and testing

Creating all the necessary documentation for any changes in the environment or new technology deployments as reference architecture for the global operation team.

Qualifications / Experience

Knowledge on either Windows, Linux or both preferable

Fundamental networking skills

Knowledge on major Cloud provider services

Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Shell, Perl, Python, etc.)

Knowledge on Active Directory, Unix LDAP or both preferable

Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service

Strong drive for continuous improvement

Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal)

Strong skills in decision-making, prioritization and negotiation

Passion and accountability for the environment you will be responsible for

Education:

Must be currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, other technical disciplines or equivalent work experience with an expected graduation date of December 2021 or later.
