The Hershey Company is seeking summer students to manage small-to-medium sized projects to improve food safety, product quality and productivity within our Stuarts Draft, VA manufacturing location. The position will require working in an industrial environment in a very hands-on role. This is an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful work experience prior to graduation while earning money for college.
Overview of Internship
* Develop Product Packaging Specifications
* Update Processing Specifications
* Work with our Environmental Micro Monitoring Program
* Map Processes to improve reliability
* Provide assistance with gathering data/information
* Develop Training Material
* Participate as a member of Quality Pillar and make recommendations
* Manage your own projects as well as support other Quality Specialist with daily tasks
Required Skills
* Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal skills
* Verbal and written communication skills are critical in this assignment
* Strong computer skills including spreadsheets and word documents
* Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel
* Able to effectively address all levels within the organization
* Strong influencing and leadership skills with the ability to challenge decisions and facilitate change
* Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with and influence the decision making of senior management
* Exemplary organizational skills

* The successful candidate must be capable of working independently after receiving direction
* **Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) while working in the production (and office) areas
Requirements
* Enrolled in college, pursuing a degree
* Preferred declared majors are industrial engineering, chemical engineering, packaging engineering, food science or a similar discipline
* A minimum overall GPA of 2.8 is required, an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred
