D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Assistant Underwriting Manager for their Financial Services Underwriting Department. The right candidate will be responsible for assisting in achieving department goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* On a daily basis, monitor underwriter queues for department, to ensure timely underwriting decisions.
* Assist Underwriters in prioritizing RUSHs, conditions and newly submitted loans to meet required turn times.
* DHI Assistant Underwriting Manager is responsible for overseeing the manual underwriting of the validation of automated findings on Conventional and government loans. They have full delegation with FHA Direct Endorsement and VA Automatic with LAPP approval.
* Will ensure the underwriting staff is proficient and updated on all guidelines that allow them to review and make underwriting decisions on all delegated products with various investors.
* Proficiency with the underwriting module of Empower.
* Handle incoming calls from branch managers, processors and loan officers, addressing issues and questions on loan files, and assisting with scenarios.
* Advise Underwriting staff when a final decision is difficult, marginal and/or assistance is needed on appraisal issues.
* Upon rejection of a loan by an Underwriter, the Assistant Underwriting Manager will perform an in-depth review and discuss with the Regional Underwriting Manager to ensure that all avenues have been explored. The Assistant Underwriting Manager will perform Mortgage Credit Reject function in FHA connection, on FHA declines.
* Participate in the facilitation of staff meetings to review new programs or changes and discuss departmental issues.
* Assist the Regional Underwriting Manager by identifying training needs.
* Assist in providing training based on Post Closing or audit findings.
* Act as a liaison, when necessary, between Branch Personnel and Underwriting staff.
* Coordinate resolution of Post Closing issues.
* Work closely with Regional Underwriting manager to manage staffing and other department issues.
* Provide support for the Regional Underwriting Manager as needed, when they are unavailable or out of the office.
* DHI Assistant Underwriting Managers will underwrite or take action on a minimum (if volume is present) of 65 loans monthly. They must also have strong organizational skills in order to handle more than the minimum standards (65) and be responsible to meet deadlines when heavy periods of volume exist throughout the month. This would include some extended hours or time worked from home. Regional Underwriting Managers will advise Assistant Underwriting Manager of deadlines required foractions necessary when these conditions exist.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises two or more employees in the Underwriting Centers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization%27s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
* Bachelor%27s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
