Under direction of the Creamery Supervisor and the WC1 Team Lead, the WC1 Assistant Team Lead is responsible for assisting with all milk and cream receiving, pasteurization, and WC1 staff. Duties include working with and helping to train all personnel to process the flow of milk and cream through each step of the cheesemaking process. The WC1 Assistant Team Lead ensures all employees follow company GMPs, Safety, and Quality programs, along with ensures all employees are productive and competent in their respective roles. This position also requires leading the team by monitoring tasks, ensuring the proper fulfillment of all required paperwork, swabbing of equipment, and abiding by federal and state regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned):

Assist with oversight of all staff in Work Center 1.
Ensures proper receiving of milk, cream, and skim, as well as complete testing prior to unloading.
Ensures all receiving paperwork is filled out correctly.
Ensures that washing, tagging of trucks, and the pumping of raw material into designated silos and tanks is completed properly.
Pumps milk and cream into designated tank.
Assists in pasteurizing.
Completes charts and verifies pasteurization reaches legal limits.
Calculates and measures amount of starter, sets vats, records dose, and lot# on paperwork.
Sets temperature and agitator based on process.
Prepares ingredients and records lot # on make sheet.
Completes make sheets, cleaning records, lab records, and any other assigned documents.
Takes pH, temperature, moisture on product to control the process.
Transfers to packaging or draining tables based on process.
Assembles pipes, connects vats, pumps, silos, and other equipment based on process.
CIP and cleans all pipes, pumps, vats and any equipment used.
Performs environmental cleaning following company Quality plan.
Follows and enforces all procedures, GMPs, Safety, and Quality plans.
Collects samples for Quality Assurance, as needed.
Coordinates with whey contractor.
Reports issues and progress to the WC1 Team Lead, Quality Assurance Manager, Creamery Manager or Creamery Supervisor.
Makes sure that the cleaning is completed, and work area is tidy before leaving, including break room.

Location: Websterville, VT

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 7:00am-3:30pm

Wage: $20.40/hr

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

18 years or older
6+ months of manufacturing experience 
Basic computer skills.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions and possess basic mathematical skills

Preferred Qualifications & Experiences:

1+ years of continuous prior experience in any industry
Self-Reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision
Able to trouble shoot mechanical problems
Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators
Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team
Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule
Knowledge of various pieces of high tech manufacturing processing and packaging equipment. Examples include but not limited to baggers, palletizers and cookers.
Ability to follow manufacturer’s specifications and directions
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Work in cold and/or hot temperatures throughout the day
Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks

Essential Physical Requirements:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.  

You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms.  Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty.  Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.  At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required.  The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
