Our team, Global Partner Engineering & Tech, is looking for impact-focused, entrepreneurial engineers ready to bring their ideas and make a difference. We apply our engineering skills and business savvy to solve challenges at the intersection of business and innovation in many of todays most exciting industries and products. These include Facebook Watch, Marketplace, Instagram Shopping, Oculus, Portal, Games, Workplace, AI and many more. We are engineers, and we write scalable, high performance code across Facebook's products to ship new solutions that address partners opportunities and challenges. We also design and deliver technical solutions critical to our partners success. In doing so, we help partners realize the full value of working with the Facebook family of apps focusing on helping them grow their business with us while reducing the effort and investment to leverage our platforms. As a Partner Engineer, you will get the opportunity to see the business impact of the solutions you build with our partners. You will get to learn and build on different tech stacks and languages. You will use your entrepreneurial passion and the freedom that the role provides to create your own opportunities and choose how you make an impact. In short, its like being the engineering lead in a startup. Role Types: We have a few different role types available in Partner Engineering depending on your interests and skill sets as follows: Partner Engineer: This role includes a combination of partner-facing time to understand their technical and business needs and then code solutions to address those needs. That coding output can be in the form of APIs, product integrations or tools to help partners and Facebook achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Systems & Tools Engineer: This role is primarily coding on internal systems & tools to help us operate more efficiently in Partnerships and deliver more value to our partners. There is a range of projects including partner management systems and tools, video/news/music content management systems, API/platform management and much more.

Partner Engineer Responsibilities

* Deeply understand Facebook apps and products (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Oculus, Portal, Workplace, video, games, payments) and their underlying implementation

* Write and ship reliable, scalable, and efficient code

* Be a subject matter expert in relevant project/product and technology areas. Build and improve solutions in collaboration with engineering, product, and cross functional partners

* Identify and surface insights using metrics on product usage to increase adoption and provide new solutions that address the needs of our partners

* Use broad range of technical and soft skills to build productive relationships with our partners, and independently resolve complex technical and business needs while contributing to partner documentation

* Use expertise and product insight to deliver high-quality project/integration/partner engagements, while influencing product roadmap to meet the business needs

* Guide workflow changes, and gain consensus from stakeholders while driving toward solutions

* Respond and maintain effective communication with industry partners and internal stakeholders

* Work with partners to develop a long- term strategic plan, grounded on business objectives, and manage partners during integrations with Facebooks platform products and ensure value creation

* Represent Facebook and our products, APIs and tools in partner meetings and industry events including F8

* Understand organizational structure and cross functional team dynamics and is able to get support from those teams as needed

* Build and manage strong working relationships with technical counterparts. Mentor and share knowledge with peers, creating positive atmosphere amongst team

* Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time

Minimum Qualifications

* 4+ years of experience as a software engineer building and shipping products or equivalent experience

* B.A./B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience

* Experience with open source languages such as PHP, Python, Ruby, Objective-C/C++, Swift, Java, Kotlin or C

* Knowledge of the Web technology stack (for example HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS)

* Experience with software design and architecture

* Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with REST APIs and developer platforms

* Experience working on multi-person code bases including open source or personal projects

* Experience with open source contributions (especially as part of larger projects)

* Experience contributing to developer and platform documentation

* Client/partner-facing and/or experience communicating to an audience is preferred

* Experience working with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP
