Job Description

As the Tech Lead for a future optical system, you will be joining the Display & Optics team that is responsible for the design, development, and productization of the display systems in AR, VR, and Portal family of products. Leading a future optical sensing system for augmented reality glasses.

Optical Sensing System - Tech Lead Responsibilities

* As the Tech Lead, you are responsible for the inner working of your area of responsibility.

* The area involves an active sensing device that requires design and development of new optical components that push the state-of-the-art in performance metrics and works in concert with high performance detection algorithms.

* Understand and engage in how the work fits in the broader system scope.

* You are intimately aware of who needs your work/deliverables, why, when, and how theyre being used.

* In partnerships with the program managers, you communicate the need from other teams, ensuring the other teams are also clear on their deliverables.

* You are responsible for the technical strategy, direction and deliverables and therefore the definition of the associated project KPIs.

* Drive the OKRs for the technical work needed on the specific program often at the more granular level.

* Engage in the semi-annual product/program OKR setting and the KPI definition along with the TPM and Engineering Managers.

* Able to translate the product and group level OKRs into team OKRs, and cascade the inner workings of the OKRs to their respective teammates and other DRIs. Together with the TPM and the EM, the Tech Lead defines the Whats and When. The TL defines the Hows in collaboration with their Engineering Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

* Masters degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics or related field, or equivalent experience.

* Minimum of 7 years of experience working in an optics field.

* Proven technical and problem solving skills.

* Proven communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

* Adept at working in a fast-paced environment and in early stages of product development.

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge in sensor, cameras, lithography, machine learning, modeling and simulation.
