Job Description
Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for the general maintenance of the building and facilities Ammonia Refrigeration System to include water, heating, air conditioning, and electrical maintenance. When needed maintain and repair the warehouse vehicles including all forklifts and pallet jacks. Provide mechanical support, including diagnosis and solution, for a dedicated delivery system including preventative maintenance, major repairs, and accident repairs. The methods and responsibility for the maintenance and repair of food storage areas, equipment and buildings shall be documented planned and carried out in a manner that minimizes the risk of product, packaging or equipment contamination as outlined in the Food Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities:
* Refrigeration System maintenance and operations
* Schedule daily maintenance work
* Perform all repairs on forklifts, conveyors, maintenance equipment and other warehouse power equipment when needed.
* Follow preventative maintenance programs on all machines and equipment
* Ensure all maintenance work performed both internally and externally is performed to company standards
* Monitor vehicle condition and performance to ensure driver compliance of company driving policies
* Manage parts inventory at the most economic level for efficient operation of the system
* Do minor maintenance as needed for water and electrical repairs
* Carry out preventative maintenance programs
* Provide maintenance to material handling equipment to ensure service reliability
* Perform maintenance on items such as floors, walls, doors, etc. when needed.
* Ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order
* Complete required reports when maintenance tasks are completed
* Answer security/alarm calls as needed to include fire alarms and refrigeration alarms
* Routine maintenance of food storage areas and equipment shall be performed according to a maintenance-control schedule and recorded
* Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area, ensuring all tools used are picked up and stored away in accordance with the food safety procedures
* Responsible for ammonia system; may be called out during non-working hours to deactivate ammonia alarm and ensure no ammonia leaks
* Ensure warehouse supervisor is notified when maintenance or repairs are to be undertaken in any food handling area, inform the maintenance manager and general manager if any repairs or maintenance pose a potential threat to product safety
* Perform the duties of a position being lead
* Conduct training for new team members
* Maintain legible and accurate records or logs as required
* Review documents prepared by team members of the work group for accuracy and legibility
* Monitor and direct performance of team members within the work group
* Open and/or close and secure the building as directed
* Report unsafe conditions to supervisor if they cannot be self-corrected
* Communicate work practices, procedures, and methods to team members as required
* Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Key Requirements:
* Must be 18 years of age or older
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* 6 months warehouse experience
* Operator level I certificate in Ammonia Refrigerator
* 2-5 years of equipment maintenance experience
* 2-5 years of refrigeration maintenance and operations experience
* 1 year of MHE fleet experience
* Ability to follow work procedures, safety rules, and food safety rules
* Ability to read, understand, and follow directions/instructions
* Repairing/rebuilding equipment may require lifting up to 100 pounds
* Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift
* Have appropriate eye, hand and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools
* Ability to climb ladders and work at higher elevations
* Basic knowledge of mechanics, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
* Ability to perform simple math calculations
* Ability to write numeric and alphanumeric characters
* Ability to pass Department of Transportation exam and a mechanical aptitude test
* Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude
* Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
