Sr. Director -- Backstage Communications (NEW)
Reporting to the GVP, Communications and PR, the Sr. Director -- Backstage Communications will develop the strategy for and lead the execution of major communications initiatives whose audiences are all associates or backstage associates only. Our lead culture communications strategist, this position will be highly involved with the Internal and External Communications leads, ensuring that communications are integrated across all appropriate channels, and be responsible for the development and execution of our ESG communications with the appropriate corporate leaders.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Collaborate across our integrated team to help craft what we do every day into content that drives business results and associate engagement
* Support the ongoing development and execution of the corporate communications strategy through an integrated communications approach, including partnering with appropriate leadership on:
o Corporate crisis response strategy for InfoSec and other corporate functions.
o Benefits communications strategy
o D&I communications strategy
o Sustainability
o Albertsons Companies Foundation and We Care communication strategy
o Corporate initiatives, including the Associate Experience Survey communications and strategy development
o Acquisitions, divestitures, new execs announcements, etc.
o Recruiting and our employer brand
* Assist the comm team with corporate portal content development, news (Fresh Bites) and other associate engagement and communication across appropriate channels
* Develop and manage communication campaigns for national initiatives for execution by the divisions which could span web/email/video/print, etc.
* Assist with strategic planning and management of communications budgets, vendors and other admin functions
Needs to possess:
* Ninja-level creativity wrapped around agile material development -- we move fast
* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or writing-intensive field of study preferred.
* 8 -- 12 years' experience in a communications role, preferably a minimum of 3 years leading a communications function (internal or external).
* Deep understanding of communications strategy development and broad exposure to multiple types of deliverables and channels.
* Excellent project management, client service, team building and interpersonal communication skills to meet tight deadlines and delight internal clients
* Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills combined with a comfort working with agility in ambiguous situations;
* Proficient with entire Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
* Strong organizational skills to manage multiple demands and objectives
* Effective team connection skills through remote work modalities
* Strong analytical skills and exemplary project management/organizational skills.
* Excellent discretion, demonstrating sound judgment in dealing with confidential information.
* Great communication and negotiation skills, bringing together different views, personalities, goals, and needs, and helping different stakeholders find business alignment and growth.
* Experience working with larger/more complex projects and programs.
* 10% to 25% travel may be required when the world returns to normal......

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
