Purpose of Job
The VP, Diversity & Inclusion (D&I;) oversees a team of D&I; advisor client managers and the D&I; program and provides leadership, direction, and functional expertise on complex, enterprise-wide diversity and inclusion strategy, projects, programs and initiatives, including but not limited to: Executive Council and line of business Presidents, diversity employee groups and programs, D&I; communications, training, and business client management. A key leader on the D&I; team, this individual influences changes in culture, management practices, and work environment through effective contribution to people, plans and programs.
Job Requirements
* Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
* Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
* Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.
* Partners with executive council and senior leaders across the enterprise to assess the status of D&I; in their organization, identify areas of opportunity, and influence and drive the development of business-specific D&I; strategy.
* Leverages quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting, including data-driven insights, market research, trend analysis, benchmarking, and opportunity identification to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy.
* Stays abreast of current and emerging developments/trends in D&I;, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies. Develops and implements best practices for D&I; action planning in support of employees, members, and communities.
* Identifies, develops, and fosters relationships with relevant external D&I; organizations, thought leaders, partners, and vendors to maintain USAAs reputation as a D&I; leader and drive change, both internally and externally.
* Accountable for the effectiveness of D&I; initiatives. Manages and tracks KPIs, metrics, and analytics to measure program effectiveness against established goals and realigns as necessary. Develops tracking strategies to monitor and evaluate impact and ROI of initiatives; develops reports on program effectiveness and makes recommendations for program enhancement and improvement.
* Builds strong relationships with Business Leaders, HR Business Partners, HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), Talent Acquisition teams, and employees to develop a deep understanding of the organization's workforce diversity, culture, inclusiveness, and retention opportunities.
* Partners with HR leadership to ensure D&I; practices and messages are embedded in overall Talent Management and HR strategies & processes (e. g., succession planning, performance management, HRIS, total rewards, talent acquisition, and manager/employee education).
* Partners with Business Diversity Groups and Business Diversity Councils on strategy for effective implementation of initiatives in support of developing a diverse and inclusive workforce. Ensures D&I; programs executed by the business are consistent with the identified D&I; strategy that aligns to business needs.
* Serves as a member of the CEO Diversity Council and acts as a strategic advisor to the Council.
* Provides consultation to senior leaders and other stakeholders on D&I; topics while ensuring adherence to all federal and state regulations and compliance requirements.
* Establishes and is responsible for adherence to the budget for all D&I; related activities. Continuously refines the budget to identify cost savings and efficiencies.
* Builds and oversees a team of D&I; professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Education:
* Bachelor's degree required.
* 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Minimum Experience:
* 10 years of progressive experience in diversity and inclusion or relevant experience developing and implementing diversity and inclusion strategies and programs in a large organization.
* 8 years of people leadership experience in building, managing, and developing high-performing teams.
* Experience developing and implementing HR talent acquisition, development, and retention programs focused on diversity and inclusion.
* Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations and diversity and inclusion best practices in support of employees, customers, and communities.
* Expert understanding of current diversity and inclusion regulatory issues and emerging trends.
* Superior relationship building, written, and verbal communication skills with experience engaging, briefing, and influencing the highest level of corporate and national leadership to include Board of Directors, C-Suite, and Senior Leadership is required.
* Expert experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting, including market research, trend analysis, benchmarking, and opportunity identification and the ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy.
* Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
Preferred Requirements:
* Experience engaging with and influencing governmental and Non-Profit Senior Leadership.
* Recognized, respected, and known influencer within the D&I; community, to include shaping best practices and possessing a deep and wide diverse network.
* Extensive project management and issue identification/resolution skills working in an Agile environment.
* Experience working in D&I; at a Fortune 500 company known for its Diversity or Best Places to Work strategies and played a role in driving achievement of diversity recognition.
* Masters degree preferred not required.
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $205,000 - $370,000
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executives only representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based
Stipend: As an EMG Member, you will receive an annual stipend (amounts determined by level) which will be paid in quarterly installments.
