Role Summary
This position will have responsibility for supporting selected areas within the Corporate Accounting and Analysis team and/or Global Close & Reporting team which are responsible for accounting, reporting and analysis for certain US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Global processes.
Specific responsibilities of this position include:
* Perform daily activities surrounding teams assigned areas of responsibility to including but not limited to market accounting, royalties, tax, employee benefit accounting, lease accounting, inventory, fixed assets, restructuring and debt and derivative accounting.
* Participate in month end financial close activities for US and Canadian legal entities.
* Prepare monthly journal entries to include PO accruals, cost center allocations, accruals for benefits and sales incentives, and any other entries requested by the market.
* Prepare quarterly and year end reporting for US and Canadian legal entities
* Collaborate with Canadian Division/Market colleagues, Controllers/Consolidations, Treasury, Legal and Corporate Tax on strategic projects and process improvements. Involvement will require problem solving, communication, presentation and analytical skills
* Participate in efforts related to system changes and/or implementations impacting area(s) of responsibility
* Improve processing efficiencies utilizing innovative technical and processing solutions
* Ensure process changes are in compliance with Pfizer accounting / internal control policies and SOX, including related document maintenance
* Support internal and external audit requests
* Develop and assist in automating accounting processes, analysis techniques and reporting functionality
* Work independently with other departments / international locations to research, analyze and resolve irregularities and discrepancies
* Maintain and develop relationships with groups serviced by Financial Services as well as within Financial Services
* Provide support to the divisions and Controllers/Consolidations related to acquisitions or divestitures
Role Responsibilities
Key position responsibilities are:
* Ensure processes are in compliance with Pfizer accounting policies and US GAAP
* Maintain complete and accurate tasks lists and status of open items
* Participate in the month end close
* Communicate known issues to manager timely
* Prepare complete and accurate standard operating procedures and SOX related internal control documentation involving new activities and/or updating for process changes as required
* Prepare complex financial and accounting analysis completely and accurately
* Maintain domestic and/or international general ledgers including the preparation of material journal entries and complex balance sheet account reconciliations
* Self-motivated, initiates tasks with little to no guidance or support
* Deliver assigned work product requiring little or no correction
* Research technical and operational accounting issues and provide range of potential solutions
* Identify issues proactively and communicate to manager along with potential range of solutions
* Prepare initial draft of financial statements

* Lead select activities involving the month end close
* Prepare complex analysis for internal customers, external accountants and Corporate Audit
* Demonstrate an intermediate understanding of SAP
* Engage directly with customers and business partners on routine activities and deliverables; continue to develop relationships
* Prepare financial and data analysis completely and accurately
* Lead the implementation of continuous improvement projects
* Participate on organization committees
* Participate in all relevant training
* Operational Transformation support including owning end-to-end processes, independent issue resolution from start to finish and streamlining departmental processes
Qualifications
* Bachelor degree in accounting or finance required
* CPA eligible
* 3+ years of relevant functional accounting or finance experience
* Public accounting experience preferred
* Key ERP and edge system experience preferred
Technical Skills Requirements:
* Basic and intermediate accounting and financial reporting skills that include the following:
* Proficiency with Microsoft O365 suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams) required
* Experience with workflow automation, data analytics, and visualization tools preferred (e.g. Alteryx, Power Automate, Tableau, Spotfire, and Power BI)
* ERP system experience preferred
* Demonstrated advanced technical financial reporting knowledge and experience
* Advanced SAP and HFM skills
* Excellent oral, written, and overall communication skills
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems in an unstructured environment
* Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and operations colleagues in all applicable Pfizer Finance and business functional areas
