Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

This position is accountable for independently or with moderate oversight by senior level team members: (1) providing expert environmental compliance and engineering support to Pfizer colleagues, property, and operations, (2) administering comprehensive programs to facilitate Pfizer compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Pfizer guidelines, (3) analyzing existing and planned products, processes, equipment, facilities, and programs to develop and implement proactive strategies to minimize compliance risk, and (4) providing expert technical and policy direction to Pfizer Kalamazoo business areas relative to environmental compliance.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Interprets regulations and Pfizer standards of low to moderate complexity that impact multiple areas. Conducts comprehensive environmental assessments for adherence to applicable governmental and Company requirements.

Maintains a high degree of technical expertise in select environmental program areas and provides expert guidance and policy direction to Company businesses, functions, and operations.

Maintains a thorough understanding of existing and proposed changes in federal and state environmental regulations.

Consults with senior team members and Global EHS on best practices and benchmarks with other Pfizer sites and external sources. Works closely with impacted areas to implement programs and improvement actions to minimize or eliminate the risks.

Represents the Company in regulatory inspections and inquiries involving environmental issues. In situations where citations are issued, recommends cost effective alternatives for compliance.

Provides 24-hour response to assist in the resolution of emergency or spill incidents, on a rotational basis.

Successfully completes training required to perform job assignments and to maintain required job-related professional certifications. Seeks out additional training and experiences to enhance skills and abilities for program compliance and improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Education: BS degree, (chemical or environmental engineering preferred)

* Experience: Minimum of 2 years related experience; preferred experience in managing compliance programs related to Federal and MI air regulations; preferred chemical industry

* Background in statistical analysis; green or black belt certification preferred

* Proficient in all MS Office applications

* Strong presentation skills to management and business leaders, with experience in concisely summarizing problems and recommending actions.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to perform mathematical calculations and perform complex data analysis. Self-driven, insightful.

Work Environment:

Typically in an office environment, but must be willing to work in the field and operating units as needed to fully analyze situations and implement solutions.

Standard work schedule, Monday Friday, days; may infrequently require off-shift and weekend support.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Off-hours spill response rotation: 3-4 weeks during the year
