ROLE SUMMARY

The Science and Innovation Policy team places the advancement of human health at the center of global policy development by developing strategic policy initiatives, frameworks, and evidence to optimize Pfizers R&D-driven organization and operating model. These global initiatives are designed to drive positive impact with a focus on market-based R&D incentives, ensuring strong R&D ecosystems, value and innovation frameworks, patient access, sustainable patient-centric health systems, digital health, and antimicrobial resistance. A key principle of our work is that leadership in science and innovation is one of the most important factors driving health advances and makes countries more productive, dynamic, competitive and resilient.

Therefore, we work in strong partnership across the enterprise to advance investment in life sciences and the R&D ecosystem, preparing health care systems to accelerate the adoption of emerging transformative therapies, and to develop evidence-based innovation policy positions to support the work of Public Affairs, Government Relations, Research and Development, and Global Product Development.

This role will be focused on developing and implementing pro-innovation, pro-patient policies, and managing novel policy issues in key Pfizer emerging R&D areas and therapies. In addition to working closely with the internal colleague groups mentioned above, this role will also work extensively with external stakeholders to generate evidence and inform our positions. Finally, the manager will also represent Pfizer in a variety of leadership capacities with trade groups and a variety of other organizations.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Policy Research and Development. Develops and updates key policy positions and initiatives focused on areas such as value-based health care, access to medicines, digital health, pandemic preparedness, and life science industrial policy. Works with internal experts and external stakeholders to understand and build evidence to inform Pfizers policy positions. Leads research to inform the key pillars of our policy positions. Organizes matrix teams of global policy, public affairs, and country/regional colleagues to drive policy initiatives at local level.

External Stakeholder Engagement. The manager will represent Pfizer in science/innovation-related organizations such as BIO, IFPMA, EFPIA, PhRMA and other groups with a focus on initiatives closely aligned with our areas of responsibility. This could include working to support other Pfizer colleagues that lead trade group engagement.

Science and Innovation Team Support. Responsible for ensuring targeted areas of policy content such as reports, whitepapers, and analyses are focused only on key areas of activities or are discontinued. Also responsible for updating those high value reports that continue to be critical. Plays lead role planning and managing overall team budget.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Undergraduate degree in health, public policy, or biomedical field required
* 5 + years of experience in biopharmaceutical policy issues or related health care fields
* Experience in policy analysis, research, and development
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Collaborative and functions well in a fast-paced environment

* Postgraduate degree
* Entrepreneurial skills
