Part-Time Podcast Editor

We are currently seeking a part-time podcast editor to help us with production of our New York Post-branded sports podcasts.These podcasts (https://nypost.com/podcasts/sports/) echo the flavor of the Post in tone and coverage of baseball, football, basketball and hockey.

You have a passion for all kinds of sports topics, especially the New York sports scene. You have expertise working with talent and a track record of editing engaging audio programs.

You must be confident serving as an editor and audio engineer to ensure the smooth taping and post production of the podcasts. You need attention to detail in editing shows, making editorial decisions when needed. Youll work closely with our podcast producers to complete the work as well as independently to edit programs.

Proficiency with Adobe Audition a must as well as experience in recording from non-studio settings (during the pandemic) and collecting high quality source audio.

Must enjoy working collaboratively and accurately in a fast paced breaking news environment.

Responsibilities include:

* Edit cuts, mix music. Must know how to troubleshoot basic technical audio issues
* Oversee recording sessions, sometimes via remote connections. Proficiency with a variety of digital audio workstations and soundmixing. Comfort with operating studio boards as well as remote equipment

* Work with our audio talent to bring out their best storytelling performances and interviews as well as continual coaching of talent

* Contribute ideas for new sports podcasts that could utilize new talent, Post talent or intellectual property

* Ensure Post style guides, journalistic and legal standards are met

* This role requires unconventional hours at times; flexible schedule required, as well as roll with the punches attitude

* Willingness to improve skills and grow professionally

Qualifications

* 2-3 years or more of producing and editing, audio engineering experience in sports podcasts in radio, podcasting or equivalent (https://www.facebook.com/ExtraordinaryPeople/)
* Availability Monday and Thursday mornings/afternoons is a must, Tuesdays/Wednesday afternoons noon-3pm and occasionally Sunday nights

* Deep understanding of sports

* Comfort with operating studio boards as well as remote equipment

* Professional-level understanding of multi-track recording and editing audio with Adobe Audition

* Ability to locate and source archival and/or online footage when necessary

* Clear communicator with excellent written and collaboration skills

* Ability to keep cool under pressure
