The Health Promotion and Resiliency Intervention Research Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Health Policy Research Center at the Mongan Institute is recruiting a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator to join its multidisciplinary team. Working amongst a diverse group of health services researchers, psychologists, primary care clinicians, oncologists, psychiatrists, and other specialists, the clinical research coordinator will assist with collaborative studies in the areas of health psychology, resiliency, stress management, cancer survivorship and outcomes research. The specific focus for this position will be to help coordinate intervention trials including 1) patient navigation for cancer survivors, 2) integrating tobacco treatment into lung cancer screening, and 3) digital mind-body resiliency interventions.

The clinical research coordinator will also have the opportunity to gain exposure to a number of additional trials and training opportunities in the area of health promotion and resiliency among patients facing cancer and other chronic conditions

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The clinical research coordinator will assume responsibility for project coordination. This role includes: patient recruitment, administering screening instruments, interviews, and surveys with patients; qualitative data collection and coding, data entry and management; corresponding with the IRB and other regulatory groups; assisting with preparation of manuscripts, protocols, and grants; general administrative support, and completing other special projects in collaboration with principal investigators. There may be opportunities for leading or co-authoring presentations and/or manuscripts with the principal investigators.

Specific responsibilities may include:

- Managing multiple studies and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of study procedures

- Verifying patient eligibility for studies via medical chart reviews

- Recruiting patients for study participation and obtaining informed consent

- Performing data collection (self-report surveys, chart reviews) and data quality assurance checks

- Maintaining study data using REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) or other programs.

- Preparing study reports, annual reviews, and Institutional Review Board documentation

- Monitoring and evaluating protocol compliance and clinicaltrials.gov adherence

- Assisting with data analysis and preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations

- Working with research interns who are volunteering on study projects

QualificationsIdeal candidates will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, have the ability to handle fluctuating priorities and deadlines, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Qualified applicants should also have a willingness and ability to learn about conducting studies in diverse medical settings with vulnerable patients, be able to work independently, have excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational skills, and have an interest in working with people affected by cancer.

Additionally, qualified applicants should be comfortable working in a team-oriented environment, often reporting to multiple principal investigators and collaborating with other clinical research coordinators. Specifically, the coordinator will work closely with several principal investigators to ensure that study aims are met, and they will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the studies.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. While not mandatory, proficiencies in analysis software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo) and skills in statistical programming are beneficial

Qualifications include B.A. or B.S. in psychology, public health, the pre-medical sciences, or related fields, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; previous research experience and experience working with an Institutional Review Board preferred. This is an ideal position for individuals interested in gaining work/research experience before graduate training (e.g., Ph. D. programs in clinical psychology or public health) or medical school.

Previous experience in research is preferred. A background or interest in psychology, medicine, nursing or public health is preferred, but not required.
