L3Harris Technologies is currently seeking a Sun Systems Administrator for our site in Salt Lake City, Utah. The ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for maintaining and administering Solaris Servers as well as a broad understanding of Linux administrations. The primary focus of this position will include a variety of day-to-day Solaris Server administration and maintenance, Tech support, workstation maintenance, system replacement and upgrade tasks. The ideal candidate will possess experience with automation tools used to create CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery) pipelines that bridges the gap between software development and the IT Infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Competencies:
* Provide support to IT Solaris / Linux systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices.
* Perform systems administration of server systems connected to local and wide area networks. Server system management responsibilities involving account monitoring, security, Operating System (OS) installation, and other local area system administration related function
* Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of Solaris / Linux problems. Analysis, identification, and resolution of IT incidents, specifically as they related to Oracle server based systems
* Solid understanding of Fibre Channel / SAN / NAS storage
* Understanding and experience with NFS, ZFS and Samba
* Troubleshooting, maintain integrity and configure network components along with implementing Solaris / Linux operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
* Solid understanding of Solaris and Linux operating systems, common commands, and administrative tasks
* Administer, configure, and deploy servers running primarily Solaris but some Linux
* Assist Software Development and DEVOPS teams in identifying and solving application issues and performance issues
* Isolate and resolve of hardware and software problems involving the applications, the operating system, the hardware, the communications infrastructure, or any combination thereof
* In depth understanding with, CShell, Bash, Python or Perl or other common Scripting languages
* Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these system
* Available to support non-business hours including nights and weekends as needed
Qualifications:
* 6+ years' experience as Unix/Solaris 10/11 Server administrator
* 4+ years' experience troubleshooting network and computer related problems.
* 4+ years' experience as Linux Server administrator
* 4+ years' extensive experience in code deployment tools such as (Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Vagrant, Chef)
* 4+ years' knowledge with administering ClearCase. JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, GIT, Bamboo, JENKINS, Solaris VMs, Prometheus, Grafana, Mesos, Marathon, Docker Artifactory, Container
