Tucker Mechanical, Inc. is a full-service mechanical contractor with over 60 years of experience specializing in 24/7/365 HVAC service, fire protection services, power/ industrial piping, commercial/process plumbing, and commercial HVAC systems, as well as computer aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) technology. We build, renovate, and upgrade, as well as service, maintain, and operate facilities for a full spectrum of clients. Our projects range in size from one-thousand to one-million square feet, including mission-critical work in facilities like data centers, hospitals, and gaming operations. Our power projects involve fuel cell installation, as well as both simple- and combined cycle cogeneration projects ranging from 250kw to 850mw.
SUMMARY
Manager of Preconstruction and Estimating is responsible for leading Tucker Mechanical's business development with new and existing customers. The position is responsible for overseeing all preconstruction and project estimating processes with focus on successfully planning for execution, project delivery and company profitability. This position is responsible for managing the estimating group.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manages all the Company's Preconstruction processes for positive customer relationships and company profitability
* Leads all preconstruction activities by providing functional and administrative oversight across multiple departments resources.
* Prepares timely and accurate scope of work documents for proposal estimating.
* Reviews all budgets and bids for accuracy and completeness; and make adjustments as necessary with lead estimators, and the operations department.
* Analyzes and reviews proposals to ensure profitability
* Reviews overall preconstruction schedule, contract scope obligations, monitor deliverables and maintains product workflow.
* The generation and tracking of bid and budget estimates from the Pre-concept design stage to the construction document stage.
* Solicit, review and present Bid and Budget opportunities from Owners, Developers, and General Contractors to Management for consideration to pursue.
* Visits customers and encourage direct business development and sales activities
* Presents value engineering and cost savings opportunities to clients as required to meet budget constraints
* Manages staff work load priorities
* Coordinates take-off and assigns work load to distribute drawing specifications, bulletins and all pertinent information to estimating staff so they can complete their assigned task(s).
* Recognizes/identifies potential discrepancies and errors in documents and develop RFI questions for timely response. Collaborates with Management and operatives for proper response and resolution.
* Develops scope letters for each bid and budget, reviews bids from sub-contractors, review scopes of work and analyze costs, as bids are received.
* Ensures all Estimating paper files, and electronic files, including drawings and specifications are properly assembled, organized, and that the estimating systems and data bases are being maintained in a manner that aligns with the established guidelines, policies and procedures.
* Reviews schedule and constructability issues.
* Trains departmental staff and ensures that guidelines, policies and procedures are established and implemented for various types of preconstruction projects.
* Aligns assignments to achieve customer and company objectives
* Partners with leadership in the development of strategic and tactical plans and works with management to implement policy, procedures and systems consistent with the company mission and competitive practices.
* Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company's drive within the confidential folder(s)
* Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the President & CEO with recommendation for resolution.
* Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
* Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree or graduate degree, preferably in Engineering or Construction Management with at least 20 years' progressive experience in the Construction Industry working in Estimating and/or Project Management OR 20 or more years progressive experience in the Construction Industry with at least 4 years' experience leading complex multi-million-dollar Construction projects in the public and private sector.
* At least 10 years' experience Estimating multi-million-dollar Construction projects.
* In-depth knowledge of the Construction industry and its current events
* Technical competencies - understand software, hardware, networks, etc.
* High initiative and ability to work well in a team environment
* Effectively handle stressful situations and deadline pressures
* Strong communication skills
* Experience using Estimating and Project Management software such as, Accubid, Live Count, Bluebeam
