Job Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor of the team, the Support Specialist will serve as the Planning and Design representative to customers in matters relating to obtaining electrical service. Provides office, administrative and basic technical support services requiring a general working knowledge of Planning and Design policies, processes and computerized applications. Acts as Planning and Design customer advocate by proactively gathering required information, answering inquiries and handling internal/external requests for information/assistance.
Key Accountabilities

* Provides administrative, basic technical support and status information to internal and external customers using current policies, processes, reports and systems to proactively gather and compile customer and/or project data. Assesses customer requests and determine if additional documents need to be obtained, such as site plans, proof of ownership, load sheets, etc and resolves issues and makes recommendations to ensure understanding using various forms of communication.
* Communicates to appropriate internal/external customers and maintains new electric connection requests files according to business process.
* Provides support on various continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support storm efforts as required. PROBLEM SOLVING This job is expected to identify problems as they occur, based on the immediate symptoms and to uncover related issues. The type of analysis most often required to solve problems encountered involves examining and analyzing information in accordance with existing principles and practices. Work may be occasionally reviewed. After each problem is identified, this job's role is to propose a solution (s) for the problem. For implementing solutions, this job has a significant role in identifying and assisting with problem resolution. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS Internal Contacts This job requires the exchange of factual information with employees and supervisors outside its own organizational unit. This job requires reporting findings to managers, supervisors, and employees inside its own organizational unit. External Contacts This job requires the exchange of factual information with city/state regulatory agencies, municipalities, other utilities and customers. This job gives advice/counsel to prospective customers, residential and commercial customers and vendors/suppliers/contractors. Presentation & Writing Skills This job requires occasional preparation of letters, proposals, reports (numerical/narrative), and work unit policies/ procedures. Additionally, this job requires daily preparation of form letters and internal/external memoranda. Coordination and Scheduling. The work flow is organized in such a manner where multiple tasks must be handled at one time; conflicting priorities are reviewed with supervisor and shifted to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

* This job requires a working knowledge of filing, PC applications software (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, database managers, etc) and secretarial/administrative.
* Additionally, this job requires an advanced knowledge of CRT/keyboard usage, data entry, internal/external customer service, and telephone skills.
* This job requires a working knowledge of complaint resolution and product knowledge.
* Additionally, this job requires working knowledge of customer service.
* The typical formal education level required to do this job is high school or equivalent.
* The preferred formal education level is high school or equivalent.
* The minimum prior job related experience necessary to do this job is one year.
* To be fully proficient at least three years of prior jobrelated experience is necessary.
