Collins Aerospace is for a Production Composite Technician who will drive the pace of operation and the quality requirements necessary to meet our internal and external customer needs. You will be working closely with 10-20 other Composite Technicians that will be building various parts for both the Commercial and US military Industries. You will also be working under the supervision of a Working Lead and Production Supervisor.

** You may need to work overtime based on the needs of the customer, with a possibility of working weekends. **

Essential Responsibilities

* Receive detailed written instructions from the supervisor, lead technician, or an engineer. Judgments and decisions at this level are guided by clearly described procedures and instructions, and the work consists of recurring steps involved in the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and larger components.
* Perform casting of materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scope.
* Fabricate polyurethane and like materials into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding
* Load and operate presses, ovens, and autoclaves. Adheres to equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as polyurethane, fiberglass, epoxy resins, and like materials.
* Layout, pre-fits, assembles and casts polyurethane and like material on a variety of molds and surfaces.
* Select tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
* Perform complex composite lay-up, vacuum bagging, cutting, repair, autoclave and / or trimming.
* Verify work to ensure a defect free part prior to presenting to quality control (inspection).
* Provide specialized technical assistance and interacts with team members to implement solutions.
* Operate large manual, electric & pneumatic tools in the assembly and disassembly of large heavy steel structures, molds and fixtures
* Work continuously in prolonged physically demanding postures
* Employee will be required to handle regulated and hazardous wastes and materials.
* Safely work in a team environment rigging, lifting and transporting large parts and equipment.
* Read and interpret planning documents
* Apply your skill in the use of production tools
* Use computers to record data (excel), track time (Autotime)
* Be available for limited overtime when required to meet project schedule.
* Work assignments require moderate to strenuous effort. Workers must climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces. Will frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds). Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with mechanical lifting devices or assistance from other workers, if required
* Hot environment (typically around 80 degrees F)
* Occasional exposure to chemicals, wearing a respirator when required

Basic Qualifications

* High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required
* Basic general tool experience (example-hammer, tape measure, screw drivers, saws etc.)
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
* Must be willing to reside in Jacksonville, FL area; no relocation provided for this role
* Must be willing to obtain certification to operate a powered industrial vehicle
* Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

* Minimum 3 months experience with composites
* Experience in manufacturing, industrial or labor position.
* Experience in functions related to proper handling and use of frozen pre-preg (resign infused fiberglass) materials
* Prior aerospace industry experience
* Active Security Clearance
