Job Description

Do you enjoy a fast-paced environment? Are you experienced with Air Export freight? If so, the Gateway Agent might be for you! As a Gateway Agent, you will be responsible for managing and operating the shipment lifecycle for assigned export consolidations. You will be a key contact and an expert in ensuring all requests & requirements are met and answered accurately and timely. You will also be accountable for executing and overseeing tasks for each shipment in addition to daily communication, reporting, and email management.

***Please note this position has a Tuesday - Saturday schedule, with Sunday/Monday off.

Our main priority continues to be the health and safety of our employees. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will be remote until further notice. We will continue monitoring the circumstances and when we feel comfortable, this position will return to the office in Lawrence, NY where you will have an opportunity to collaborate face-to-face with a talented and diverse group of peers.

Responsibilities:

* Understand the processes, documentation, and terminology involved in international air freight from time of booking through the delivery of the cargo
* Apply industry knowledge and critical-thinking to adapt processes/create solutions in response to challenges both internally and externally
* Execute/Coordinate tasks on the shipments to meet all SOP requirements: processing pre-alerts, delivery of freight, governmental filings, etc.
* Ensure a high-level of data integrity within the shipments: acknowledgement of shipment details, routing, dates, documents, etc.
* Facilitate Relationships
* Communicate clearly, timely, and effectively with CHR offices, Agents, and Outside Vendors
* Promote a positive working relationship for all team members
* Act as a resource and expert to the department and network on shipment requirements & process initiatives
* Participate, as needed, in new lane implementations
* Monitor shipment trends and its impact to our processes and operations
* Perform other duties and projects not reflected on this list, as assigned

Required Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED
* At least 1 year of Air Export experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Excellent customer service skills to be utilized with internal customers and external vendors
* Strong communication, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills
* High level of attention to detail
* Critical-thinking, flexibility, and problem-solving skills to adapt to ever-changing tasks and internal customer needs
* Post-secondary diploma in logistics/supply chain/transportation industry
* Values a diverse and inclusive work environment
