Job Description
CDM Smith is seeking a Manager, Accounting to join our Corporate Finance team. This individual manages revenue and expense recognition and balance sheet reconciliations in coordination with business unit finance and project management functions. Responsible for the accuracy of the balance sheet and all revenue and expense recognition for the business units assigned.

Manages and performs reviews, interpretations, and verifications of client project revenues to ensure accuracy of financial information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsible for the accurate accounting of all revenue recognition for assigned business units.
Manages and performs analyses of the firms direct and indirect operating expenses, actual to budget cost variances, and cost trends of basic to high complexity to verify that revenues and expenses and related financial data is appropriately recorded in general ledger.
Manages asset, liability, and capital account entries. Resolves financial discrepancies by providing guidance in the reconciliation process. Responsible for the accuracy of the balance sheet.
Manages day-to-day activity of accounting staff. Provides feedback on performance appraisals. Manages the development and training of staff. Approves paid time off requests (PTO) and ensures human resources policies are followed.
Performs other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications


Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
Expert knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Excel and other related Microsoft office products.
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion.
Ability to influence at all levels throughout the firm.


Bachelor's degree.
8 years of related experience.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands


Preferred Qualifications
MBA or Masters degree in finance preferred.
Public accounting (Big 4 or Large Regional) highly preferred.
Experience with ASC842 and stock-based compensation.
Experience with Workiva a plus.
Oracle Cloud (i.e. Fusion) experience is a plus.
