The Opportunity

Ally Invest is in need of a senior cloud data engineer to add to our growing team. The Cloud Data Engineer role is responsible for creating, maintaining and optimizing the data architecture in support of multiple product and business lines. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, strong focus on attention to detail, a proactive approach in problem solving, critical thinking and process improvements, and excellent communication skills. The Cloud Data Engineer will gather and analyze requirements, make architectural and design recommendations, code, document, and test their contributions in a high-energy, team-oriented environment.

The Work Itself

* Design, develop, test and deploy business intelligence solutions
* Interact with various business units to gather requirements
* Review and optimize current ETL processes
* Ensure data quality, completeness and accuracy
* Collaborate with team members in code reviews, discovering better practices and patterns and continuous improvements
* Provide significant contributions to the growth of our Data infrastructure
* Participate in routine Agile and Scrum principles

The Skills You Bring

* Bachelor's degree in a related field
* 3+ years of relevant work experience in business intelligence, data engineering, data warehousing or related field
* Extensive working knowledge of Python
* Experience with Java, Scala or equivalent languages
* Experience building data platform(s) in the cloud (AWS preferred)
* Experience with message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ/JMS/Kinesis/etc.)
* Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources
* Experience processing large amounts of unstructured data
* Experience with data modeling
* Experience building ETL pipelines with Apache Spark/PySpark
* Experience with Big Data components (Apache Spark/Hadoop/Presto/etc.)
* Experience working with Apache Airflow
* Working knowledge of Unix/Linux systems
* Working knowledge of multiple database programming languages
* Working knowledge of data security management policies and procedures
* Willingness and drive to continue learning emerging practices and technologies

Additional Desired Knowledge & Skills:

* Master's degree in a relevant field
* Experience working with investment or trade data
* Familiarity with Luigi, NumPy, and\or Pandas
* Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP)
* Experience working with Continuous Integration Systems (TeamCity, Octopus, Jenkins)
* Passion, positive attitude, engagement and desire to take over challenging assignments as part of a team, making things WORK
* AWS certifications are a plus
