What you will do:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Controller at the North Division's Business Support Center (BSC). The position has the following major areas of responsibility: financial accounting and reporting, including month-end close processes; general ledger account analyses and reconciliations; preparation and posting of journal entries; internal reporting requests related to Division branches and Corporate; fulfilling requests related to internal/external audit and other ad hoc analyses and special projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Month-end procedures and reporting requirements, including the generation of reports and the preparation and posting of journal entries.

* General ledger account analysis, research, and preparation of account reconciliations.

* Preparation of reports and other information related to internal requests from the Division/branches and Corporate, as well as external requests.

* Analyze financial results for budget variances and exceptional trends and preparation of analytics.

* Provide reports and fulfill information requests from external and internal auditors.

* Participate in ongoing enhancements to accounting and reporting processes by leveraging systems and reporting tools to drive those enhancements.

* Ensure compliance with the Company's financial policies/procedures.

* Maintain internal accounting controls that are consistent with Company requirements.

* Timely monitoring and research of clearing account items such as PGI (Post Goods Issue) clearing.

* Act as liaison between the regional financial analysts and the Division accounting team.

* Assist in the accounting integration of acquired businesses and divestitures.

* Act as a mentor to Staff Accountants.

* Special projects and other duties as assigned.

* Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance

* CPA or MBA preferred but not required

* Five-plus years of accounting/finance industry experience or three-plus years with CPA/MBA or public accounting experience.

* be successful, the Senior Accountant should have a solid understanding of general accounting matters and GAAP.

* Proficient in Google suite applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) as well as a demonstrated ability to utilize financial applications within SAP.

* Ability to train new employees and to answer questions regarding job procedures and issues. Including having the ability to adjust to others needs and learning styles.

* Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships and strives to understand customer's needs, both internal and external.

* Ability to deal with difficult situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.

* Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions based on investigation and judgement as well as ability to discern when to escalate issues.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities and juggle between divisional, local and Corporate management demands.

* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with others in both favorable and unfavorable situations regardless of status of position. Accepts cultural diversity and establishes effective working relationships.

* Strong analytical skills; competency for understanding metrics and ability to present and communicate to all levels of the organization and external customers.

* Leadership skills; Identifies requirements; allocates, and effectively uses information, personnel, time, and other resources necessary for goal accomplishment; establishes appropriate courses of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals; develops evaluation criteria and tracking systems for monitoring goal progress and accomplishment; and specifies objectives, schedules, and priorities.

* Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adjust communication method based on customer situation.

* A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment.
