Working in an application development environment, the Java Developer Advisor acts as technical lead for an application within the scope of a project. Oversight of technical aspects for requirements, design, coding, unit testing and system testing. Capable of decomposing technical solutions into assignments that can be executed by team members. Develops, evaluates and proposes solutions to technical challenges. Evaluate the impact of changes on application performance and platform capacity. Communicate complex technical issues and concepts in a way that is understandable to business and leadership audiences. Coach and mentor other members of the organization. Must be able to analyze, design, code, test complex programs, and perform code/design review of the work of project team. This includes verifying test results to ensure adherence to quality requirements.

The programs and technologies to be reviewed or developed are Java, AngularJS/Angular, REST Webservices, JBOSS or WebSphere Process Server (WPS ) based using various Java Frameworks (e.g. Spring, Hibernate). Understanding of SQL and NoSQL database technologies. Strong understanding of APIs and microservices-based architecture is a must. Working knowledge of IT Operations and strong technical skills in the following areas: application architecture, integration patterns, security, and automation. Utilize code management tools to manage source code in a multi-developer environment (Serena Dimensions, Jenkins/GitLab with Maven). Understanding of cloud design and architecture for one or more public cloud providers (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP) to deliver large-scale distributed solutions across the full enterprise stack. Experience in enterprise development tools and methodologies (e.g. XP, Agile) including DevSecOps and CICD Pipeline. Experience with AI/ML technologies is a plus (e.g. Python, TensorFlow). Serve as R&D; virtual team member to research, recommend and drive implementation of new technologies.

- 0 - 5% domestic travel required.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in leading large scale application development in a professional or academic setting
- 3+ years of experience with JAVA, AngularJS/Angular, REST Webservices or WPS application development, design, and testing complex programs;
- 5+ years of JAVA build tools like Dimensions, Jenkins/GitLab with Maven

Preferred Qualifications
- A Masters degree or foreign equivalent in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems , or closely related technical field.

Education
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
