Job Description

DISH Wireless is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Head of Standards to lead a group of technologist and engineers representing DISH’s interest in various Standard Bodies and Technical Specification Groups such as 3GPP, ORAN, MEF, TMForum. The ideal candidate will should have a proven record of succeeding in introduction of unique and challenging work or study items within standards group.

Manage DISH representation in various standard’s groups, from Devices to OSS
Champion standardization and develop technical specifications that meet the commercial needs of Dish’s applications & services through collaborative effort and consensus-based process
Review and analyze meeting contributions documents prepared by engineers
Work with cross functional teams (RAN, Core etc.) on business requirements and relate them to current and upcoming technologies and trends
Collaborate with stakeholders on gathering input, prioritization and facilitate decisions
Liaise with other companies to garner support and approval of Dish’s contributions
Engage with the ecosystem members to build broad consensus across the ecosystem and influence and drive direction
Analyze and advise on contributions and defend DISH’s position during the meetings
Provide guidance on how to approach the submissions to approval process
Create pre and post meeting reports for DISH leadership and managing expectations

Have thorough understanding of working procedures for more than one standards body
Solid understanding of 5G and LTE protocols
Has been a delegate in multiple standards such as 3GPP, IEEE
Extensive working experience in 3GPP either RAN, SA or CT is preferred
Experienced or knowledge of ORAN Working Groups
Preferred experience in MEF, TMForum, IETF etc
Preferred to have experience on network operator side
Should be proficient in network architecture
Demonstrated understanding of SDN and NFVI
Should have Radio and Core Experience and clear understanding of performance and conformance requirements
Should have a good understanding of FCC rules and spectrum policies
Minimum of 15 years of experience in cellular/wireless industry
Must be able to manage remote teams and have flexibility for extensive travel
