The Role
The Strategy & Legal Analysis Executive will serve as the executive responsible for the strategy and operational management of the Legal Department. This includes development, change management and (along with other senior leaders) implementation of the Departments strategy; risk management and controls; external counsel management; financial planning and management; technology strategy and implementation; human capital management; data strategy and management; reporting; real estate and operations strategy and management. This leader will also provide strategic input and program management support for the Legal Departments efforts in support of various enterprise activities.
The leader will serve as a strategic partner to the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsels and other senior executives across Wells Fargo. They will be responsible for leading their team; leading the execution of the Departments strategic priorities; developing and executing plans to advance operational excellence in the Department; all aspects of running the day-to-day and long-term operational affairs of the Department; assist in the coordination of cross- Departmental legal support on various significant enterprise initiatives; serve as an Executive Sponsor of corporate and Department initiatives, and participate in company reputation risk management efforts. The leader will be a member of the Legal Departments Senior Leadership Team.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in building and developing high-performing teams focused on driving business results through effective leadership and team member engagement; contributing to a broad strategy with an enterprise focus; and, embodying the vision and values of Wells Fargo. The successful candidate will also be effective in establishing strong working relationships with senior leadership and will be regarded as a trusted advisor on regulatory issues, business strategy, risk management, and business management in a manner that is consistent with Company goals and expectations.
The successful candidate will:
* Have deep experience with strategy and operations, and significant management experience, preferably for large legal or business operation departments.
* Develop relationships with key stakeholders and an understanding of business objectives, operational and technological capabilities relevant to business strategy; use influence, expertise and communications skills to advance outcomes.
* Drive financial performance consistent with strategic objectives and risk framework to meet company performance goals.
* Execute on Wells Fargos highest priority commitments and advance its strategy.
* Lead the advancement of DE&I efforts across the company by driving actions to deliver against company commitments.
* Advance Operational Excellence in key legal, process and operational activities.
* Operate with the highest levels of ethics and integrity.
Required Qualifications
* 4+ years of management experience
* 10+ years of experience with business operations or strategic planning; or as a practicing attorney with a major law firm, banking regulatory agency or in-house legal department
Other Desired Qualifications
* Financial Services experience preferred
* Proven ability to lead a team through strategic change
* Experience working with bank regulatory agencies
* Demonstrated experience managing legal department strategy and operations
* Demonstrated experience in financial planning or budgeting, including formulating an annual budget; processing budget requests; revising forecast as environment changes and providing periodic reporting of actual results and variances
* Proven interpersonal skills at the senior executive level, including the ability to provide valuable and trusted advice to clients and colleagues
* Highly developed organizational savvy and executive intelligence
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Experience leading large and varied cross-enterprise projects and driving results
* Proven ability to (i) adapt quickly to a changing or crisis environment while building relationships and negotiating for desired outcomes, (ii) work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, (iii) understand complex business activities and operations, (iv) prioritize among competing demands, and (v) develop and maintain relationships of trust with business leaders
* Experience leading business reviews and remediation efforts
* Proven driver of execution and measurable results
