What will you do?
* Supervise employees in the production, filling, and packaging of reagents, calibrators, and/or controls on automated filling and packaging equipment to approved standards and specifications.
* Analyze procedures and production methods to improve quality, costs or productivity, in keeping with product specifications, good manufacturing practices, Federal safety regulations and Company policies.
* Performs minor maintenance on equipment and troubleshoots processes.
* Performs routine process adjustments within predetermined limits; conducts random visual product quality inspections; verifies production quantities
* Support Practical Process Improvement initiatives
* Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Savings projects
* Ensures machine and work area is clean using 5S principles
* Lead, participate and/or support kaizen workshops; monitor progress, maintain database, metrics, pre-workshop, and follow up on post workshop activities
* Seek learning opportunities and benchmark to enable the production to develop best practice
* Develop and advance lean principles, tools, and techniques through leadership and training which will maximize value and minimize waste to enable positive change within the site.
* Communicates vision and supplies leadership and management to their Production departments in order to attain corporate goals in quality, manufacturing cycle time, and total cost.
* Directly supervises the activities of their Production department personnel:
* Assists in the recruitment and selection of Production department members.
* Manages vacations and work hours.
* Actively supports members2019 training and professional development.
* Counsels members in accordance with company policies with issues relating to conduct and performance issues. Assists with recommendation and implementation of disciplinary actions.
* Establishes and implements performance standards for department members and performs ongoing evaluation for each department member.
* Develop the improvement plan for the production line in pursuit of budgetary improvement and customer satisfaction with management assistance
* Actively supports continuous improvement efforts in their Production department.
* Identifies departmental barriers and leads functional teams to implement improvements having a corporate impact. Participates on, and may lead, cross-functional teams having a corporate impact.
* Implement and sustain cost reduction programs with respect to quality, waste and other inefficiencies.
* Facilitate and lead equipment upgrade and improvement projects for process improvement
* Executes production schedule and use of resources to support customer orders, new product introduction, forecast orders, and desired finished goods stock levels.
* Actively identifies and implements improvements in on-floor material handling.
* Support information system requirements and integrity by assisting with the developing of time standards and routings / resource assignments for relevant manufacturing sequences.
* Maintains their Production department2019s goals and measures of success, actively tracking progress toward attainment of same and initiating corrective actions when required.
* Provide the necessary level of training and safely inspections to assure a safe work environment.
* Provide training for new employees as well as incumbents so that product quality, GMP and work flow are maintained.
* Review performance of personnel as required and documents required performance enhancement plan as needed or any other disciplinary actions that may be required.
* Serve as a manufacturing technical expert for identified manufacturing processes. Continually review process and results, anticipate problems, and trouble-shoot processes and equipment with the assistance of other support groups.
* Ensure that all FDA guidelines are followed and that proper records exist and are properly maintained.
* Understand validations of processes and machinery following FDA guidelines. Be able to assist in performing validations or review of validation procedures.
* Responsible for maintaining financial budgets for areas of responsibility. Provides recommendations to develop both capital and expense budgets.
* Supervise temporary employees as required.
* Supports the Affirmative Action program (AAP) goals of the company in all personnel interactions.

How will you get there?
Education
* B.S. Degree with minimum 3 years of relevant manufacturing or engineering experience in a diagnostic or related industry is preferred or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
* A lean based background is preferred
* Experience in automated filling and packaging equipment is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Normal manufacturing environment.
* Position may require frequent communication and walking to other areas in which designated PPE will be required.
* Position will require sitting and standing.
* Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

* Formulation, filling, labeling, and packaging knowledge of diagnostic manufacturing desired
* Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access required
* Ability to use an MPS system such as SAP
* Troubleshooting and formal problem-solving skills required
* Proven ability to motivate and influence others.
