How will you make an impact?
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will work in a new product development environment that develops a wide variety of plastic lab ware products from concept to launch. Your ideas will bring new products to life as you collaborate with other design engineers, process development engineers and project leaders to develop plastic products for life science, medical device, laboratory, diagnostic and consumer product markets. What will you do?
* Partner with Great Coworkers: You will participate on cross functional project teams to lead design activities including: developing product design traceability matrix, product design verification activities and present at technical design reviews.
* Solid Model Design: Develop Solidworks solid models that achieve design requirements using best design practices and industry design standards.
* Detailed Drafting: Create detailed technical product drawings and customer product specification drawings utilizing GD&T standards. Complete engineering change requests and BOM updates.
* Design Analysis and Simulation: Complete tolerance stack-up analysis and design simulation activities including FEA and MoldFlow. Make arithmetic computations using standard formulas, calculates dimensions and tolerances.
* Develop Engineering Standards: Create and use engineering design guides and standards.
How will you get here?
EDUCATION
B.S. minimum in Mechanical Engineering or related field with minimum 8 years product design experience; or 6 years with an advanced degree. Plastic component design experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE
* Extensive experience with mechanical drafting standards and solid modeling is required. Solidworks, ProE or Unigraphics is preferred.
* Strong proficiency with tolerance analysis of mechanical assemblies. Structural analysis experience is a plus.
* Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving and data analysis methods.
* Experience with plastic materials, plastic processing and mold design is a plus.
* Excellent PC skills with proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), various CAD programs.
* Previous experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards and Lean Manufacturing concepts desired.
* Experience with medical device, 13485 or FDA a plus
* Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 5% of the time).
