Position Overview:
Within the Global Tools & Storage (GTS) division of Stanley Black & Decker we are currently looking for a Packaging Manager to join our Packaging organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage, innovate, design, and execute best-in-class unit packaging and merchandising solutions for promotional activity within the Power Tools Accessories division of GTS. Lead the development of design and validation of packaging components for existing products and new product introductions. Support multiple packaging initiatives including new product/packaging innovation and productivity projects in the areas of material, labor, and supply.
This position requires strong leadership skills to inspire, influence, and execute. Experience in multi-project packaging design and development, working directly with multiple business segments, global suppliers and design teams. Experience in packaging operations from manufacturing and with warehouse and distribution systems. Strong problem resolution and decision making skills. Able to resolve elevated issues, be creative, resourceful, display sound judgement, and demonstrate accountability. Ability to work with cross functional teams, drive successful attainment of departmental and company goals with thoughtful well-rounded solutions. Ideal candidates should have strong organizational, planning, and project management skills. Have the ability to prioritize tasks for both self and team to meet business requirements and deadlines. Have strong written and communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and problem solving suggestions effectively.
Major Responsibilities:
* Lead innovative packaging design solutions to support brand development and distinction
* Work closely with Marketing, Product, and Supply Chain Teams to develop and define/create innovative packaging concepts.
* Participate in cross functional teams to design, develop, and implement new packaging and/or packaging changes for quality or cost.
* Evaluate supplier selection for packaging design, production, and pack out.
* Collaborate with global suppliers and packaging support teams to develop packaging design, specifications, and implement improvements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to ensure that open lines of communication and understanding of packaging needs and processes are established and met.
* Actively participate in marketing research programs including focus groups and trade shows to keep abreast of industry changes, new innovations, and equipment for updating designs and processes. Visit/evaluate current and potential new suppliers annually.
* Lead packaging teams on continuous improvement and best practices for global symmetry and organizational structure.
* Lead project and department communications at senior level meetings.
* Provide guidance and training to direct reports to help attain career goals and motivate.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:
* BS or BA in Packaging Engineering or Industrial Design
* Must have 10+ years of related work experience within Consumer Products or a related industry (client or vendor side) strongly prefered.
* Ability to lead and work effectively with Marketing, Design, Product Development, and Supply Chain Teams.
* Demonstrates Strategic and Critical Thinking with regards to the packaging development process
* Previous experience in the strategy and development/execution of packaging development programs.
* Strong background in Artios CAD, TOPS/Cape and Adobe Creative Suite.
* Excellent Microsoft Office skills
* Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills.
* Management experience preferred.
* International /Global experience preferred.
