Description

This position provides field and office support for all work related to the management of vegetation on distribution rights-of-way to ensure safety and reliability of the APC distribution system in the Eastern Alabama Region. The duties of this position include; Vegetation Management planning, pricing, budget management, contract management, contract crew oversight and quality control.

Job Experience & Education

* It is preferred that the successful candidate have a degree in Forestry or other related fields.

* Candidate must have knowledge of safety rules and practices pertaining to overhead line and field work.

* Candidate must have a general knowledge of distribution operations and rights-of-way practices.

* Extended knowledge of distribution systems is desired. Previous work experience with contractors is desired.

* Previous work experience in vegetation management also desired, especially utility vegetation management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Candidate must have effective written and oral communication skills.

* They must have understanding of computer systems and applications, in particular Microsoft Office Excel and Word.

* Candidate must possess the ability to work in GIS systems.

* Candidate must be able to effectively work with contractors, property owners and clients.

* The incumbent must have the ability to make sound decisions within the range of responsibility; must be able to fully read, comprehend and interpret plans, specifications and documents and accurately document the inspections performed.

* Bilingual in English and Spanish desired.

* Must be able to work in stressful situations with landowners during conflict resolutions.

Other Requirements

* Ability to obtain State Restricted Use Pesticide Applicator's License immediately.

* ISA Certified Arborist License within one year.

* Utility Arborist desired but not mandatory for entry level.

* Being on APC official clearance list is desirable.
