Senior Software Engineer

Job Description

Microsoft is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on virtualized, highly scalable, cloud-based solution deployed at many tier 1 and smaller network operators around the world. You will be developing a build system to support Microsoft's Telco products on Azure. You will be part of the product's transition from being hosted on prem to being hosted, built, scanned and deployed Microsoft's 1 Engineering System. You will be responsible for leveraging those systems to build software for our worldwide customers who have not yet moved to Azure.

* Constructing complex distributed cloud native projects
* Supporting construction, testing and deployment on both private and Azure clouds
* Responsible for analyzing requirements, scoping projects, interacting with development teams and customers
* Contributing to project architecture and high-level designs & project planning
* 10+ years of experience in successful delivery of multiple large build system projects
* Experience in gathering requirements and presenting technical solutions to internal and external customers
* Experience in managing projects - planning, tracking schedules, risk management
* Extensive experience using GNU make and Linux build chain tools including both gcc and LLVM
* Extensive experience with Docker container construction and layerring
* Extensive experience with Linux, including cloud-init, networking, configuring, and general administration.
* Extensive experience programming in Python, Bash, C, C++
* Extensive experience with git, including handling of sub-repos and experience developing development frameworks on top of git
* Extensive experience creating and using Linux packaging tools such as yum, including creating yum package repositories and using rpmbuild to create rpm packages
* Extensive experience automating the building of VM images using Packer
* Experience documenting processes and procedures
* Experience using ARM templates to deploy VMs and other resources to Azure.
* Experience setting up monitoring of large environments
* Experience creating, maintaining, and evolving DevSecOps frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
* Experience supporting engineers using DevSecOps/Agile development environment and processes
* Familiarity with Kubernetes
* Experience with mapping a complex distributed build environments to ADO is a plus
