Basic Function

The SIS and DCS Specialist has the primary responsibility to ensure the operability of the CVOs SIS, DCS, and PLC systems, and these systems and associated procedures meet site and corporate standards. These systems are providing constant protection to plant personnel, the environment, and the plant equipment.

Roles & Responsibilities

* The SIS and DCS Specialist position supports both North and South plants at the Channelview Complex.
* Project design and implementation support for SIS and DCS hardware and software.
* Provides life-cycle asset management for site programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
* Specific routine maintenance assignments are based on business needs.
* Maintain SRS (Safety Requirement Specifications) data for area of responsibility.

Instrumentation Expertise and Support

* Designs, develops, implements, and documents configuration changes to SIS, DCS, and PLC logic configuration and HMI configuration.
* Support turnarounds, planned outages, and callout to ensure the operability of the industrial control systems.
* Support the Operations and the Instrumentation Groups in troubleshooting industrial control systems.

Development

* Train instrumentation technicians responsible for proof testing and preventative maintenance.
* Consult with site engineers designing or changing SIFs.
* Work with operations to develop plans for abnormal operational scenario's.

Min. Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED required
* Requires a working knowledge of corporate and site standards and requirements for SIS, DCS, PLC, instrumentation, process control, and process alarms.
* Requires programming skills to configure and maintain SIS, DCS, and PLC equipment.
* A minimum of five years prior work-experience in instrumentation, SIS-DCS-PLCs, logic, final elements, or power supplies.
* Ability to install hardware, and run cabling in ceiling and subfloors for project implementation and equipment replacement. Requires lifting 30 pounds of control equipment.
* Perform routine maintenance on running DCS, SIS, and PLC equipment in multiple areas of the Channelview Complex. Requires working in equipment enclosures containing safety and control equipment.
* Perform instrument wiring in control cabinets working on multiple wires, small screws, small plugs, and terminations.
* Process safety engineering knowledge is required. (e.g. HAZOPs, PHAs, LOPA )

Preferred Qualifications

* Ability to work across multi-discipline teams and interact with all levels of the organization.
* Successfully completed an industry recognized SIS training (Ex. ISA84 , TV , INERIS, CFSE)
* Working knowledge and experience necessary in facilitating factory and site acceptance testing of industrial control systems.
* Technical understanding of industrial manufacturing and unit processes.
* Knowledge of incident investigation processes.
* Understanding of IEC61511/ISA84 and ES-413, Safety Instrumented System Requirements is preferred.
* Associates Degree in instrumentation related discipline is desired.
