Is this role right for you?

In your role as a U.S. Power & Utilities Investment Banking Analyst, you will focus on preparing client presentations, financial modeling and research. With experience, you will take on increased responsibilities including directing transactions and participating in business development with the guidance of senior group members. You will enjoy a stimulating and challenging work environment in which you will assist with executing a broad range of transactions.

On any given project, you will interact with other departments of the firm such as Corporate Banking, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets and Corporate Solutions gaining knowledge and understanding of both investment banking and the capital markets. Scotiabank brings new Analysts in contact with clients and senior investment bankers at the earliest possible stage, allowing them to gain experience in managing and cultivating client relationships. Standards are very high as most work is presented to senior executives at client firms.

In this role, you will:

Evaluate and analyze the financial needs of corporate clients, including the development of financial models

Prepare marketing materials and presentations

Generally supporting client pitch and deal execution efforts

Financial and written analysis of companies and industries, including the development of valuation models, pro-forma financial statements and comparable company analysis, etc.

Participate in drafting prospectuses and marketing presentations for transactions

Preparing client presentations (including compiling data and assembling presentation materials)

Applying product and capital markets knowledge to help clients achieve their financial objectives

Participate in all stages of transaction execution, from the pitch phase through to closing

Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:

A relevant bachelors degree or equivalent qualification

A proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities

Related investment banking or power and utilities experience (would be an asset)

Series 63 and 79 licenses (preferred) as candidates will be required to obtain both licenses within a year of joining

A clearly defined interest in Investment Banking

Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory

Strong written and verbal communication skills

The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work

The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines

The ability to perform effectively in a team environment

Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations

Strong presentation skills
