Job Summary

This Distribution Operator position, located in Charleston, SC in the Dominion Energy South Carolina Electric Dispatch Center, performs switching and outage dispatching to include orders for field personnel to ensure safe work completion. Ensures all reporting is completed to keep management informed of system conditions, circuit outages, key and critical customer interruptions, and extended outages. Communicates with contact center personnel and on-call personnel in business offices on status of distribution outages and service restoration efforts; investigates customer issues, troubleshoots the nature of outage to identify the responsible party and helps customer understand and resolve internal electrical issues without dispatching a truck; estimates arrival time for crews and communicates outage information; dispatches trouble orders, communicates switching needed to resolve outage and issues hot line tags/clearance, instructs switching steps, releases hot line tags.

To meet operational needs, selected candidates must be available and committed to working a flexible 24/7 shift schedule as well as overtime and storm callout as business needs require.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

Four (4) years experience as a Dominion Energy South Carolina Journeyman lineman/Journeyman Substation Electrician/Technical Specialist

OR

Two (2) year Associates degree in a technical field and two (2) years experience in a utility operations or related work environment.

OR

Military Experience - Certified Nuclear Reactor Electrical Operator (or comparable electric certification) and four (4) years military experience in an electric distribution operations related work environment.

Required experience in OMS, SCADA, GIS,CSR Desktop, NXT Communicator, CADS, Web Portal.

Excellent PC Skills.

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Works well in a team environment.

Comprehends electric operations technical terminology and operating procedures.

Must be able available to work after hours, schedule overtime, and call out for emergencies and storm restoration.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma/GED or two (2) year Associates degree in a technical field or completion of ICS T&D Apprentice Technician/Electrician/Lineman courses.
