Job Description
The Physical Therapist Assistant PTA within the Wellness and Rehab Department assumes responsibility and accountability for the total care of a designated group of patients/client under the clinical direction of the authorizing physical therapist.

Education:
* Minimum of an entry-level Associates Degree required.
* Advanced certifications are preferred for specialty areas (e.g. Aquatic Certification and Certified Pool Operator if specialty area is Aquatics).
Licensure & Certifications:
* Must maintain an active Indiana License
* CPR required within 3 months of hire.
* If specialty setting is Aquatics, Aquatic Certification must be achieved within one year of hire, and Certified Pool Operator CPO must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Essential Functions:
* Planning - Assists the Physical Therapist in evaluating the effectiveness of the treatment plan and makes appropriate changes to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
* Treatment - Utilizes appropriate treatment methods based on functional needs of the patient.
* Education - Utilizes appropriate education and training to provide knowledge of illness and treatment needs as well as skills and behaviors that promotes recovery and improve function.
* Documentation - Completes appropriate documentation and communication of all aspects of patient care including results of initial evaluation, plan of care, interventions, and response to interventions, changes in status, reassessment, education and discharge.
* Professionalism - Utilizes sound professional judgment based on knowledge, skill, education, training and experience.
* Aquatics the Physical Therapist Assistant PTA working in the specialty area of Aquatics will achieve a certification of Certified Pool Operator CPO, and an Aquatics Certification. They will assume responsibility for all care and operations of the warm water therapy pools within the Wellness & Rehab Department, including taking water samples, testing and adjusting water chemical levels, and general maintenance and cleaning of the pool/s.
