Job Profile Summary:
This position will provide primary direction and leadership in strategy and business development for Evernorth Behavioral Health. This position will oversee and lead the development of new business models and strategic partnerships across channels; strategic need for specific products and services; and leadership of the strategic plan in conjunction with finance. This position will partner closely across the Evernorth segments to deliver on a strategy that optimizes growth across the company. This position will be responsible for developing an ideal operating model that appropriately balances operating costs with revenue and earnings opportunities, working closely with business segment and sales partners.
The Opportunity:
This newly created position supports the transition of Cigna Behavioral Health to Evernorth Behavioral Health Services. The Senior Director supports the strategy of becoming Evernorth Behavioral Health as an external facing entity now prospecting and competing for BH solutions as a standalone offering. This role will be responsible for creating the Go to Market strategy of this new standalone business unit, leveraging competitive market data, partnering closely with the sales team and ensuring a meaningful sales enablement strategy by standing up this new team of Sales Product Senior Advisor(s). Additionally, this role will be responsible for establishing and leading cross-functional operational and project initiatives, identifying whitespace opportunities within the behavioral market segment, evaluating competitive intelligence data, and supporting financial impact of new opportunities that include potential M&A.
This new Senior Director position would help enable projects and strategy spanning across the different BH functional areas - product, operations, and provider contracting, while acting as a key strategic partner to the Vice President Behavioral Health as the BH business creates a multi-year roadmap to success in serving client opportunities outside Cigna Health Plan.
Position reports to the Vice President Behavioral Health and leads a total team of five to seven through two to four direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop the multi-year Evernorth Behavioral Health strategy in partnership with Behavioral Health Vice President, which includes multi-dimensional strategic opportunities, new, existing and cross-channel business development, responsiveness to emerging competitive opportunities/threats, financial outlook, etc.
* Own translation of strategy into short and medium term actions to drive financial outcomes and enterprise growth. Directly tie strategy to product roadmap in partnership with product leadership. Understand, optimize and communicate based on funding, capacity and capability availability.
* Own annual planning activities, including translation of organizational priorities and goals into initiatives, timelines, deliverables and financials for Evernorth Behavioral Health. Work will be closely support by the Behavioral Health Project Management team.
* Create, motivate and cultivate a high performing Sales Product Enablement team for the client positioning, client marketing and client adoption of behavioral health solutions. Develop direct reports and provide opportunities to stretch skills, creating clear career paths and a succession plan.
* Work closely with Sales to ensure delivery on strategic and financial commitments.
* Works closely with Cigna Ventures and Business Development team for investment and M&A opportunities.
* Partner closely with functional areas leaders of behavioral health product, network, and clinical operations to ensure long term strategy aligns with ability to execute successfully.
* Partner closely with senior leaders across Evernorth Services to ensure a cohesive approach of Evernorth Behavioral Health strategy within the broader Evernorth Services strategy.
* Travel approximately 50-60%
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelors degree and 12-16 years of experience in a related field; Masters degree and 10-14 years of experience in a related field; without degree 18-22 years of experience in a related field or PBM/ healthcare/ behavioral health experience.
* Possesses a broad understanding of the behavioral health market.
* Strong financial acumen and ability to develop effective partnerships.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well with both internal and external teams and stakeholders.
* Proven track record for success in leading high-performing teams in a matrixed environment.
* Experience in directing or working with multi-disciplinary teams and cultivating an effective team environment and culture of innovation.
* Solid negotiation skills with the ability to influence and persuade while balancing the needs of the organization and external partners.
* Adaptable with the ability to navigate complex dynamics and ambiguity. Ability to effectively cope with multiple issues and setbacks.
* Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
* Perform and document implementation processes.
* Demonstrated thought leadership on challenging problems with examples of implementing innovative analytic solutions and driving outstanding results.
* Strong verbal/written communication and leadership skills to work with various matrix partners, including but not limited to actuarial, medical economics, business, marketing, and engineering.
* Ability to manage a vision and purpose with various business stakeholders and analytics teams.
* Effective leadership, prioritization and management of complex deliverable portfolio in a dynamic environment.
