Senior Controls Engineer, Albuquerque, NM

Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Senior Controls Engineer (level 5) to perform design, analysis, modeling, and testing of high performance controls for precision electro-optical systems. The engineer would work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems. Boeing LEOS develops systems for a variety of customers and platforms.

The ideal candidate would have experience in controls design (classical and modern) and hands on hardware/system integration for opto-mechanical systems which require precision pointing control in dynamic environments. This includes, but is not limited to, gimbaled optical systems, high bandwidth steering mirror control, sensor modeling and characterization, image stabilization, and closed loop target tracking.

Primary Responsibilities

* Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, analysis for control systems, primarily for electro-mechanical and electro-optical hardware.
* Works with a multi-disciplinary team to implement and test control systems.
* Models control systems as part of larger system simulation

Required Experience, Qualifications and Experience:

Basic Qualifications (Required):

* This position requires a US DOD Top Secret Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

* Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Computer Engineering, or other related engineering/science disciplines

* 10+ years in the design, analysis, and testing of high bandwidth electro-mechanical or electro-optical control systems

* 7+ years experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation is available for internal candidates.
