Apple is looking for a human factors research engineer to apply user-centered design principles to the research, design, and development of its health features. This role requires working at the intersection of many disciplines, on a variety of projects and with multiple partners. * We are looking for a seasoned professional who can work independently and excel in a dynamic, hands-on, cross- functional and creative corporate environment.
* Ideal candidates will possess an upbeat personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, patience, and aesthetic sensibility.
* This position requires strength in creating detailed design of experiments, utilizing the scientific method, performing statistical analyses, and visualizing information.
* Proven experience in medical device usability evaluations and documentation preferred.
* Experience applying regulations and best practices for medical device human factors is a plus (e.g. IEC 62366, AAMI HE75, FDA Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices).
* You are able to utilize and customize quantitative log collection, while also intuitively relating to the user and applying their intuition.

We believe some of your day to day activities will include below items. However there is no limit to what you can contribute at Apple. - Apply Human Factors Engineering (HFE) techniques and principles at all phases of product/technology development. Exercise independent judgment in development of study methodology, data collection efforts, data analysis, conclusions, and design recommendations. - Develop user study criteria and detailed methodology for UI/UX evaluations across several concurrent projects. Conduct user-centered research and evaluation for design concept models on a diverse user population utilizing experimental data, anthropometric databases, and scientific publications. - Conduct statistical and qualitative analysis of data and provide clear and concise feedback to teams in a timely manner. Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering, and product development groups. - Draft documentation to support submission to FDA and other regulatory bodies by using risk analysis, consent forms, recruitment screeners, moderator guides, study protocols and technical reports. - Maintain an active working knowledge of worldwide human factors publications, standards, and both cognitive & physical heuristics.

Bachelor's degree required, (master's/doctorate preferred) with a concentration in human factors, industrial engineering, cognitive engineering, anthropometry, experimental psychology, and/or human-computer interaction.
