Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced and motivated senior customer-facing Solutions Architect in support of customer migration and modernization efforts.
As a Solutions Architect for Migrations you will work with our customers, guiding them through the details of Cloud transformation and migration of critical business workloads, accelerating the customers cloud migration journey.
As a Solution Architect for Migrations you will:
Work alongside our enterprise account executives and solution architects to help customers accelerate their cloud migration journey and modernize their business applications on AWS.
Working with our strategic customers in our World-Wide Industry and Public Sector, you will help the customer assess their readiness for Cloud adoption and advise and guide the customer in developing a strategic plan to transform IT processes and organization to support their Cloud adoption.
At the onset of a large migration engagement, you would focus on understanding customer business drivers as well as the compelling event/s driving their cloud adoption.
Work with the AWS account team, Partner, and customer to help develop a comprehensive migration plan, lowering risk and cost while accelerating adoption.
Collaborate with Business Development, Professional Services, and our Partner team to ensure successful management of customer progression through programs like the AWS Migration Acceleration Program.
Gain hands-on technical credibility with internal as well as customer technical leaders, and will mentor other AWS solution architects on migration best practices.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about:
Creating, articulating, and positioning an innovative and compelling value proposition so that customer executives clearly realize the benefits and transformation value of migrating to AWS
Defining and executing technical migration strategies by working with highly technical teams within AWS (Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, Professional Services consultants and Managed services partners)
Working with large scale network, compute and storage architectures to help remove roadblocks in customer migration projects
Engaging with development, infrastructure, security and IT operations teams at the customer and identifying repeatable patterns and architectures for cloud migration
Driving the co-development of new go-to-market approaches and opportunities with the Geo business lead.
Identifying platform improvements, influencing future iterations of the AWS platform and the Migration Acceleration Program (MAP)
Engaging with C-level customer executives to inspire, define and execute on Enterprise cloud migration strategies demonstrating thought-leadership and a can do approach to enterprise migrations, working backwards from customer needs

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess an active Top Secret security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
7+ yrs experience in a Solutions Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Lead Architect role leading the discovery, design, and construction of large-scale Enterprise Migration solutions
2+ years experience planning and executing large scale IT and business transformations to the cloud
2+ years experience architecting, designing, migrating workloads to the public cloud
Demonstrated experience in a range of migration discovery, profiling, migration automation, and operations technologies and tools
Undergraduate degree or 7+ years of experience in software design, implementation, or consulting experience with distributed applications in lieu of no Bachelors degree or equivalent military experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience working with Intelligence Community customers
Demonstrated effectiveness working with customers and partners leadership teams to qualify, develop, and close deals on migrating and modernizing applications
Multi-tier distributed architecture experience within IT consulting, IT operations, application development or support to include the following: experience migrating, architecting, operating on premises or cloud-based solutions, or experience transforming legacy IT solutions, and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
5+ years across Enterprise IT in multiple of the following areas: Infrastructure architecture; Database architecture; Networking; Zero downtime migrations, IT Security; Data Center Operations, Cloud operating models, Software design or development
5+ Experience architecting highly available, resilient, fault tolerant systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal/vertical scaling and high availability
4+ years experience planning and executing large scale IT and business transformations to the cloud
Understanding large IT budgets, complex vendor relationships, and working with diverse teams to justify cloud migrations
Depth in various migration techniques such as re-host, refactor, re-architect, re-platform, repurchase, etc.
A strong understand of enterprise applications (ERP), application architecture total cost of ownership (TCO), IT transformation of the organization, networking, storage, and enterprise data center environments.
