DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and under-served communities around the world.

THE ROLE
Have you wanted an opportunity to develop electric propulsion systems for an advanced satellite constellation? The Propulsion Technician will work within the Kuiper propulsion team in operating, commissioning and developing electric propulsion test facilities. The technician will work with sub-system owners to stand up test capabilities beginning from definition and early planning stages through to use and continued improvements. The technician will perform electric propulsion system tests following and editing evolving procedures. The technician will assist with assembly of test articles. You will contribute to finding solutions to challenging problems trading test methodologies, schedule constraints and measurement precision in implementing test solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble flight hardware.
Assemble and commission electric propulsion test diagnostics and assembly fixtures.
Commissioning facilities, including high vacuum chambers and electrical test equipment.
Execute test procedures and feedback to process owners.
Perform and/or coordinate propulsion test facility maintenance.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of working with high vacuum systems.
1+ years of electrical cable assembly.
1+ years of experience with electrical bench test HW (including oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies and arbitrary waveform generators).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
1+ years of experience following work instructions.
Proficient with part machining for fixturing and re-work purposes.
Experience with test fixture fabrication.
Experience with electric propulsion systems and/or electric propulsion diagnostics.
Experience with hardware assembly in a production environment.
Experience with test automation, data acquisition or test control SW.
Experience with electric circuit re-work and assembly.
