Your Impact:
The role sits within the insurance investment team within PGIM Fixed Income (PGIM FI). The insurance product specialist function is responsible working with insurance clients and prospects to understand their investment challenges and structure solutions to advance their objectives. The current search is for someone who will primarily focus on working with our investment and sales teams to speak to clients and prospects to grow our presence within the insurance industry. This position reports to the head of the insurance investment team.
The new insurance product specialist requires strong analytical skills, experience in the asset management insurance industry and the ability to effectively drive discussions with clients and prospects on the nuances of the insurance space and provide solutions which will help grow assets. In partnering with our insurance clients, we will need to figure out which range of services such as industry & peer analysis, regulatory/required capital analysis, strategic asset allocation (SAA) and other ALM analysis, benchmark construction, risk budgeting and thought leadership is required to succeed in building our value proposition. The role will be a resource for clients, and you should possess industry insights with the ability to partner with teammates across PGIM FI, including the investment teams, to credibly interface with senior decision makers at potential clients. A firm understanding of the underlying regulatory, accounting, or actuarial issues that drive investment management decision making will be important for success as will the ability to understand the optimal asset strategies to achieve client objectives. Teamwork is critical for this role, as well as strong presentation and communication skills. We are looking for a self-driving asset management professional, with insurance experience and contacts within the industry.
Your Responsibilities:
* Business analysis and recommendation for building an insurance platform. Understanding and discussing regulatory requirements and their impacts
* Providing insights into market and regulatory events occurring in the insurance marketplace and their potential impact on client portfolios
* Assuming ownership and responsibility for a variety of processes and models that could be used as service offerings to client and prospects (e.g. asset allocation and peer models) supporting the insurance asset management business
* Being able to critically review, develop and implement improvements and changes to existing efforts and reinvent the value proposition for PGIM FI insurance clients
* Working with the quantitative investment team to design, build and implement investment models as needed to support and inform the strategic investment decision process
* Maintaining knowledge of investment strategies covered and assist in presenting firm capabilities with gravitas and poise to executive decision makers at current and prospective clients, to the print media and at industry conferences as required.
Your Qualifications:
* 10+ years of experience in Insurance channel asset management, which demonstrate increasing levels of responsibility
* Presenting at client meetings across US and Europe
* FINRA Series 7 & 63 required
* Strong understanding of the role and responsibilities of the various asset management support functions
* Strong understanding of financial concepts and fixed income experience
* Strong understanding of ESG and sustainability and impacts to insurance companies
* Experience working with investment teams directly
* Understanding of the regulatory landscape impacting the insurance industry
* Process and detail-oriented with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills crucial
* Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills with proven ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
* Strong project management experience and ability to work in team
* Strong sense of curiosity and analytical mindset
* Fast learner, must be self-motivated, determined, focused and show initiative
* Unafraid to ask questions, escalate issues, admit mistakes or check facts before responding to questions
* Demonstrated ability to drive multiple initiatives and competing priorities with excellent time management and organizational skills
* Advising the distribution teams on key sales strategies
* Liaising with marketing and communications eg. sales pitches and presentations
