The Sr. Data Scientist youll be providing expertise, guidance, and oversight in the areas of machine learning and data science for the highly innovative and vibrant team of Analytics Competency Center Data Science team. With great freedom to innovate, you will play a leading role in world-class research that will drive the future of PNC artificial intelligence and machine learning. You will team up with business stakeholders to prioritize innovation ideas and work with other data scientists to develop and deliver breakthrough solutions. This work will help businesses across the enterprise solve critical business problems, uncover new business opportunities, and turn their large volumes of data into valuable, actionable insights. Data Scientist will work on exciting and challenging projects and will serve as the primary liaison to Analytics Competency Center team members for technical assistance.
Qualified candidate will be responsible to prepare business specific analysis by using mathematical and statistical concepts, plus data modeling to address business problem, in order to prepare recommendations for business solutions. Candidate will also be responsible for the quality and quantity of sound decisions around business processes.
In this role candidate will work independently using latitude in making decisions. Core Skills and respectabilities includes, but not limited to Machine Learning and or Deep Learning, one or more ML friendly programming language (SAS/Python/R/Julia/Spark/Scala), Scripting, Data Visualization, Business Acumen, Data Engineering. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify ML use-cases. Explore, analyze, design, experiment and prototype ML use-cases that solve business problems with specific outcomes. Communicate impact/results of ML prototypes to stakeholders with layman terms leveraging business-relevant KPIs. Independently research, experiment, prototype ML solutions to solve problems within a large enterprise domain.
Qualifications:
tMasters or Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Quantitative Economics, Actuarial Science or comparable work experience
tMinimum of 5+ years of relevant experience within financial services or related field
tProficiency in Microsoft Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Tableau and SQL
tSubject matter expertise in data modeling with demonstrated experience executing change to core business processes through the use of innovative quantitative techniques
tStrong verbal/written communication skills
tAbility to translate complex technical topics into business solutions and strategies
tProject management experience is a plus!

* Leads the implementation of analytical projects that leverage vast amounts of structured and unstructured data to extract actionable business insights.
* Directs the data gathering, data processing and data mining of large and complex datasets.
* Leads the development of algorithms using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques like machine learning to predict business outcomes and recommend optimal actions to management.
* Leads analytical experiments in a methodical manner to find opportunities for product and process optimization. Presents business insights to management using visualization technologies and data storytelling.
* Partners with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Experts to develop data-driven solutions for the business.

Work Experience
Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
